Jackson coming in was a huge difference, but Lambert didn't set the edge near like Carl did either. Carl is a difference maker. I don't think Petrino has ever run an offense like that, so we obviously weren't prepared for it.

No they wouldn't have. They would have had about 15-20 seconds.

I guess to put it into perspective, it was the first game, against an offensive mastermind who fielded some very different and dangerous QBs, with the Auburn QB throwing 3 ints and almost 5, and Auburn still won.

First games are dangerous and Auburn got past it and had a sizeable lead through most of it. muschamp was the biggest winner, defense did great at times, did okay with the stars out and he got to watch them play very different offenses in one game.

And 1-0.

Whatever it takes, hopefully JJ is doing the same so he can light up BR in two weeks.

I won't go that far...but I've seen happier crowds leaving the game after a loss than yesterday.

I am not worried about JJ. Like I said, their game plan was to take JJ/Duke out. It worked. But we found that Barber is a man child. Gus will game plan around that. I am just worried about Lawson. He is injury prone, and we have no other rushers. We can't go far without pass rushers.

As bad as Johnson played, he still made several amazing throws in the pocket and on the run. I think he will be fine as he gets more comfortable in this role.

Auburn K Daniel Carlson also set a Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game record with his 56-yard field goal.

Congrats to Daniel Carlson. LINK

The defense is average at the moment without Lawson. They will get better, but aren't there yet. They are pretty good with Lawson though.
Lawson and Adams make the d work. We need both in the game most of the time or we will be average at best on D.

Offense and JJ never got into a rhythm. I think they will be fine. Interceptions were bad.

Fwiw, 8 penalties on auburn. Including going from awesome touchdown bomb to 1st and 35 in one play.

It seemed to me that things didn't become difficult for our defense until Lamar Jackson(Qb) came in.

Great point.

I really hate saying it, but it reminded me of the Tuberville years when we'd get up by a lot and then let the other team come back.

Right at the end of the 3rd quarter, the Tubershell image popped into my mind and I shuddered.

Braden had to grab that guy otherwise he was gonna murder JJ. I'm really curious what Gus said to get that personal foul.

My last concern about the game yesterday:

Why in the holy frick did JJ throw that ball on the last play when the clock was at 0:00?

Because even if it was an int, it would have been like a long punt.

True, but it was no worse than what they were doing to Adams. On some of their big plays, it looked like he was getting a choke hold.
