It was a nice win. Louisville was a dangerous opener and we led wire to wire.

The defense is average at the moment without Lawson. They will get better, but aren't there yet. They are pretty good with Lawson though.

JJ had the worst game for an AU qb in a long time (we didn't field a team in 2012). I still believe in him, but lot to correct and work on.

All I got. Team played ok. Win is a win early and we will get better as the year progresses. Satisfied overall and barber is a horse.

I was hoping Sean White would get some garbage time in the second half. Defense fricked that up.

Oh yeah, overall I'm glad we looked bad in the second half. We are gonna have a war on our hands and in our face in a super hostile environment in two weeks.

Motivation to get a lot better should be there.

Based on the performances of the SECw teams, Auburn should likely be ranked last. Not being hyperbolic, but every team with the exception of LSU looks better than us

The INTs were just so bad. The rest was fine.

We lose this game with Ellis at DC. Think some are forgetting just how good of a game day coach petrino can be. His timeout was derp but the play calls gave us fits.

Really, jjs play is the only major shortcoming.

Why did Holsey not see any action tonight?

My observations:

Offense

- JJ was trying to do too much
- Barber is a beast
- Oline needs to clean up some, busted a few protections
- Never worried about a Gus offense
- Maybe Ricardo can finally catch

Defense

- Lawson is incredible
- Matthews is very physical
- Defense has to control the edges and not get sealed
- We played a ton of FR and they all looked pretty good
- Holland rushed the passer really well
- Monty gave the best DT performance since Fairley
- Dontavious Russell is going to be a star
- Gimel President shouldn't see the field again
- Linebackers all played pretty well
- DBs and LBs seemed to do a much better job of getting off blocks

The defense didn't frick that up.. Our offense bent our defense over by not being able to stay on the field. We were gassed by the time the 4th quarter rolled around

At one point I had my feet propped up with a cigar waiting to be lit.

I forgot we are Auburn.

Things went south when Lawson and Matthews were on the bench. Until that point things were going okay

I like and agree with all of the points. I will add that Johnson, to me, seemed to have the spotlight nerves and tried to really force things that weren't there. Those are fixable, the picks were awful to see but it just seemed like he tried to do things that weren't possible. I was shocked to see JJ sitting on the sideline by himself a lot instead of having someone over there trying to calm him down, his receivers should have been with him.

Lawson and Adams have first round potential if this game shows anything.

Patrino is one of the best game day play callers in the country, don't forget that. Give him a quarterback with the speed that Jackson had and this win could look really good on paper in 4 or 5 weeks. Jackson will give a lot of defenses fits.

Overall on defense, we tackled better, did a better job of keeping every play in front of us and didn't let anything long go and played with more fire than I have seen in a few years. It gives me hope going forward.

It seemed to me that things didn't become difficult for our defense until Lamar Jackson(Qb) came in. He's more challenging than Nick Marshall. I Feel better about this game than I did after Kansas State.

In fact I feel better about this game than I did after the Washington State game and Mississippi St. in 2010

That's the way I saw it also. Dude was their entire O in the second half. Cat quick and very elusive. We might have lost that game if he had played all game.

It's obvious that Lawson and Tray are the leaders of our D. When those 2 were out in the 2nd half we were struggling to keep that QB in check.
