Auburn will lose the fanbase if a final decision isn't made in secret mid season behind closed doors?

Sounds legit.

I assume 9 other SEC coaches will be fired as well. Butch Jones is definitely gone. Sum lin would be gone, Bielema, orgeron, McElwain etc

Gus ain’t going nowhere if he beats UGA or UA

That's thinking is what started Jetgate of Tuberville

Say what you want about Malzahn, he normally performs better v Bama than everyone expects. Ya he loses, but they never go as expected

The last 2 Iron Bowls have been masterful performances. Last year out-gained 501-182 and Auburn had only 7 first downs, just another offensive melt by Gus but hey keep him because he says "we're going to turn this thing around" on the regular.

Beating Alabama shouldnt be the measuring tool. Gus has a terrible record against any traditional powerhouse, not just Alabama. He's lost to Clemson twice, Wisconsin, FSU, LSU, Oklahoma, and of course UGA and Alabama. But the powers that be and the pro-Gus crowd keep saying "if he beats Alabama he stays." That shouldn't be the measuring tool. He's underperformed against the top schools his entire tenure, starting with FSU in the title game. And it's not like he had to rebuild like Tubs did. He's an underachiever that's won against the traditionally weaker SEC schools.

Also, I haven't seen many folks saying we want to be like Alabama and Saban. Most realize Saban is once in a lifetime coach. But Gus has underperformed against the big schools. This is why he should've been fired this week.

In a perfect world, we’d hire an offensive minded HC who would keep this defensive staff in place.

We aren't getting a Kelly, Patterson, Peterson, or any other big name. Hire Chad Morris, keep the defensive coaches!

I can easily see Travis being a Dabo in due time. Players love him and he seems to be a GREAT coach and have a good coaching mind. He needs to be a coordinator for a few years first though. Maybe down the road he can come back to Auburn as a HC.

He needs to beat both

Unless we're saying to the world that 1-7 against our rivals over the span of 4 years is acceptable

The unacceptable part is being 1-4 / 2-3 v UGA, especially given they've been "down"

Hard to knock any coach for having only 1W vs Saban. Since 08' Saban only has 13 losses and no coach has more than 2W vs him

I'd replace Bama with LSU for this sake. We have no road wins vs LSU/UGA and would have a losing record vs both despite both firing coaches

Why would we want to hire a guy who learned from Gus, and had the same problems at Clemson that Gus has at Auburn?

I wish George O'Leary or David Cutcliff were younger, they won wherever they went, even on a resume... Just never were at a program that had everything to win AU potential big. The important question is who is a younger version of them and who can identity them in this day and age. Not JJ

You mean 10 years ago he adapted some Gus elements that made Malzahn one of the top offensive minds at the time? Morris offense is more more dynamic passing than Gus' + less predictable play calling.

Also what problems were those? Morris had a signifantly more balanced offense + put up big passing #s

Clemson Run v Pass Playcalling (sacks/scrambles = Run)
2011: Run 50.2% / Pass 49.8%
2012: Run 55.3% / Pass 44.7%
2013: Run 52.5% / Pass 47.5%
2014: Run 54.4% / Pass 45.6%

Clemson QBs under Chad Morris
2011: Tahj Boyd 3828yd , 33TD
2012: Tahj Boyd 3896yd , 36TD
2013: Tahj Boyd 3851yd, 34TD
2014: Watson/Stoud 3404yd, 23TD

Basing what I said on Clemson friends of mine told me, not stats.

eta: Just saw the question you asked. Was told that Morris was incapable of making adjustments.
