You're right.

But couldn't Jacobs do it anyway?

Firing Rhett won't do anything. The problem is Gus

What do people honestly expect to happen if Lashlee were fired?

This.

It would be a symbolic move at best.

And then things would be exactly the same.

The offense we are running is the offense that GUS MALZAHN wants to run, not Rhett Lashlee.

We hired Gus for his offensive mind.

If he isn't running the offense, why do we need him really? There are better team managers.

If he is running the offense, why do we need Rhett? There are better QB coaches.

For all we know Lashlee is one of the best OC's out there and is being handcuffed by Gus.

Lashlee is basically a glorified QB coach. He has absolutely nothing to do with O line, WR and RB development. Gus calls the plays.

And we know how QBs have played for last few years.

So you can be assured that Lashlee is not one of the best OCs out there.

Rhett is also the qb coach, and we see how that's worked out. The way I see it, we are basically going with one less on field offensive coach than everyone else. The HC can't spend all his time working with the QBs.

When we hired DC, I hoped he would become the qb coach after a year or two. He's definitely no wr coach. That is all on Gus.

Right or wrong, the expectation is you'd hire a better QB developer who could bring new ideas to the offense.

urban meyer has a very good offensive system... But he's had different OCs run the show (with varying success). doubt Gus trusts someone else enough to do it though.

How would that solve anything? If it comes to that we're already screwed anyway.

I don't think Gus gets fired, so I'll take forcing Gus to get a legit OC.

But I agree that Gus is the problem.

I wasn't asking the question in regards to how Gus can save the program. I was really just curious if Jacobs can fire coaches against the head coach's will.

OK, I'm with you, bro. No sarcasm. With you 100%.

So if we force a new OC on our HC who is 100% responsible for the offense and play calling, what does that change exactly?

Sounds like (to me) we get a Tubs/Franklin deal. Yeah... sign me up.

These posts just prove how worthless Lashlee is as our OC. Basically just getting a $600k paycheck for nothing. Such a waste.

Well any OC would be the same waste
