I'm a big Radiolab fan and they recently did an interesting show on football. It talks about how it began and the innovations of Pop Warner. It's a good juxtaposition to the traditionalist tooth-gnashing that is frequently expressed in any discussions involving CGM.

In all seriousness, it sounds like a good listen. I knew pop warner football is the cornerstone for the innovation of offense as they valued getting the ball in space but I haven't really researched into specifics.

We ran the wishbone when I played pop warner. Actually went all the way to regional championship before losing to the eventual national champions that year.

He apparently did some pretty hilarious rule bending.

The show is pretty nerdy, but they discuss really great topics. They get to the heart of why football was developed. They also talk about how it almost died out in 1905(?) due to too many days in the sport.
