Not sure I have ever seen a player improve from one season to the next as much as Dylan Cardwell has this year. He missed every free throw attempted from mid-December until mid-March last season and finished shooting 31.8% from the line. This year, he is hitting them at nearly 70% and looks confident stepping up to the line. Last year, him getting fouled was a turnover and this year it's points every time. He's hitting open shooters after rebounds instead of panicking and turning the ball over. You can tell he has really put in a ton of work to improve his game and it's great to seem him have such a positive impact this year.

Hear hear! I love when I see Dylan on the floor. He's much improved and the energy he injects into the game is invaluable. He causes this feedback loop at home where him and the students just get more and more pumped while the other team implodes.

I love this team at home. I really hope they figure it out on the road.

Dylan will go down as one of the most popular players ever at AU. Plus his activism around the campus is incredible and non political just sharing love to all

Can we please stop this nonsense narrative. We are 4-1 in neutral site games. I expect us to finish 5-5 overall on the road and 5-4 in conference on the road. Anything around .500 on the road is very good.

And I propose that we beat Baylor if Tre and CBM are closing games in our only neutral site loss.

Rant off

Back to the Dylan praise he deserves it

He's so fun to watch it's infectious.

Him and CBM always get so animated.

It’s going to be weird in Neville whenever KD and Dylan move on. Bruce always finds fun personalities but those two will leave a massive hole in our hearts particularly for home games

I admire the work he has put in regarding free throws.

He acts like a guy who enjoys playing basketball.

I imagine he will play in Europe.

He could come back. Covid year. Same for Broome. Broome would probably be a very late 2nd round pick currently and that’s before any of the European players get cranked up for draft potential. I could see both back next year or both gone depends on what kind of NIL Bruce has to work with plus he’s swinging for the fences with about 5 or 6 top prospects.

I think JayWill and Lior are the only players that are completely out of eligibility.

Somebody else said something about us being in on a lot of top prospects, who are they?

Also, Dylan rules

I love to watch him as well. He's not very skilled, but really athletic. He totally changed the way he shoots free throws...it's ugly, but works.

I'm going to miss watching him for sure.

I don’t think this comment is true anymore. Last year maybe, but he is making extremely impressive plays. He’s not a great shooter, but he has incredibly soft hands for a big man and has made many points in the paint look easy that were anything but. He also makes a good many steals.

The narrative that we are bad on the road is way over blown. We are so good at home that it makes us look bad when the shots aren't falling so much on the road.

If you look at Torvik rankings, we are the 19th best rating on road only games in nation and 3rd best in conference. If you adjust to Away and Neutral combined then we are the best in conference and 5th best rating in nation.

This was mentioned before. Are you talking about recruits for next season? I believe with Pettiford and Howard, the rest will be transfers. Now 2025 recruiting, yes there are some nice players Bruce is on. Key is to find some quality 5 spot guys in the portal for next season (among others).

And I honestly thought Cardwell, Moore and KD were done with eligibility but do they still have a Covid year? Jay Will and Lior are completely out of years and Broome still has a year I believe but can’t see him returning.

But that doesn't necessarily mean "skilled". When you think of skilled bigs you think of guys who have some perimeter skill set. Dribbling, shooting, top tier footwork.

Dylan is a garbage man bruiser type. That's not a knock on him at all, just don't think he falls under "skilled big man" - that's more like the Chet Holmgrens, Jokic, and Embiid's of the world. He's been great at D-ing up and getting boards and kicking out to open shooters. Love that he doesn't try to force something up just because he got a rebound...like Horace lmao

Dylan has his own Clint Capela Niche. Wouldnt really depend on him if he had to guard a bigger team like State's team which whooped him at his own game.
