4-2-5 base. Gonna need a couple DTs from the spring portal and maybe another edge rusher.
I think we have about 5 spots available. I expect another 5ish to leave after spring so probably a spring portal of about 10 folks.
Probably 2 OL 1 interior at minimum possibly another OT
2 DTs
1 Edge
1 safety
1 CB
1 WR outside guy
1 Qb possibly
1 LB possibly

This will remind folks of a Steele defense. Maybe a hair more aggressive and more zone then he ran. Not as aggressive as Roberts in the front

Can you get less aggressive than rushing 1?

We should have just put 11 DBs on the field since technically I don't think any of the DL were told to rush on that play.

A rumor I heard is that Durkin had not been fired by Texas A&M, so there were issues with his buyout. Whether A&M wanted Auburn to pay a buyout, or if Durkin wanted his guaranteed money from A&M is not clear to me. The delay is likely due to lawyers hashing all that out.
From what I've read I think an agreement was reached 2 weeks ago and the delay was on the business end between Durkin and each AD about how to deal with his 3.5 mil salary. A&M recently lost their AD so there's some transition on that end that probably drew it out longer than normal

If you don't have haters, then you're doing something wrong! I just saw an article titled "Alleged Adulterer At D1 Powerhouse Hires D-Coordinator Associated With Former Player’s Death". We got these fukkers running scared!

Haters gon hate
Alleged Adulterer At D1 Powerhouse Hires D-Coordinator Associated With Former Player’s Death
Auburn Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze has never been one to shy away from controversy.
In fact, some might say that controversy is the biggest reason that Freeze is even a household name. Take, for instance, resigning from Ole Miss in shame after he was found to have called an escort service from a university phone.
But now Freeze is back in the SEC, and he’s doubling down on the controversy with his latest defensive coordinator hire.
ESPN’s Chris Low reports that Freeze hired former Maryland head coach DJ Durkin, who most recently served as the defensive coordinator at Texas A&M.
Hugh Freeze Hires Defensive Coordinator Associated With Death Of Former Player
Why is Durkin no longer a head coach, you ask? Well, in part because he just wasn’t very good at it.
But more so, because Durkin was the head coach at Maryland when offensive lineman Jordan McNair passed away after showing signs of heatstroke and exhaustion while participating in a team workout. McNair was just 19 years old.
A further investigation by ESPN revealed that Durkin had created a dangerous, “toxic culture” around the Maryland program.
Among the findings, ESPN discovered that:
– “There is a coaching environment based on fear and intimidation. In one example, a player holding a meal while in a meeting had the meal slapped out of his hands in front of the team. At other times, small weights and other objects were thrown in the direction of players when (strength and conditioning coach Rick) Court was angry.”
– “Extreme verbal abuse of players occurs often. Players are routinely the targets of obscenity-laced epithets meant to mock their masculinity when they are unable to complete a workout or weight lift, for example. One player was belittled verbally after passing out during a drill.”
Not a great look for Durkin!
But Freeze doesn’t seem to care about that. He’s just trying to win football games. And after a 6-7 first season with the Tigers, it appears that he’s willing to do almost anything to do so.

I hope Brother Hugh wins a national title here, not just because that's what he's supposed to do but to rub it in these smarmy, limp-wristed soy boys' faces.
