This is one of those put a ribbon on a turd threads. 6-6 sucks, no matter how you slice it.

So you're saying if the ball bounces our way in Ricardo's hands that we're a 10 or 11 win season.

No, what i am saying is we have bigger problems then the ball not bouncing our way. Having a receiver catch a ball thrown to him is not an example of the ball bouncing our way. I've watched high school kids who never play college ball be more consistent then what we have at receiver. We don't have 1 single receiver that is consistent.

Then your premise is a decent receiver = 4 or 5 more wins

We had that and we (rightfully) kicked him off the team

I agree 100%. But you cant have it both ways. You wins some close ones, you lose some close ones.

Good teams find ways to win close games. Every team in the college football playoff this year were a play or two away for one or more losses.

I know what you're saying. I just don't think it's coincidence that good teams win more close games than bad ones

I agree... 8-4 was probably our ceiling this year, with the two games you mentioned going against us -- UGA and ark.

Ole Miss and MSU were games we certainly could've won, but redzone struggles and qb play did us in.

Tell me i'm wrong.

Several games could have been decided by a competent receiver. Several times this year we were driving down the field and had receivers drop the ball on third and manageable. Balls that weren't over or under thrown, balls that hit them in the numbers.

These may not be the only reasons games are lost or won but it is hard to score when your receivers let easy catches hit the turf.

No I agree. Just wondering why 1 receiver has you worried about the future so much in comparison to our whole offense not working well

We had serious issues, and I think at best we could have been 8-4

Our team sucked this year for sure, but our opponents weren't nearly as good as years past. Bad teams can win a lot of games when things go their way and 4 of our losses could have easily been wins

UGA v Auburn - Sean White @ 100% = Win. I'm not even huge SW fan. We lost by 7 using Forrest Gump and a cripple at QB

Auburn vs Arkansas - 4OT game = potential win

Auburn vs MSU - We had 80+ more yards and held them to 326 yards 25% from 3rd down. If we didn't play a handcuffed offense or RZ INT, this is a potential win

Auburn vs Ole Miss - Ole Miss is better team but score was 20-19 in the 4th QTR despite having a clearly injured QB

LOL
It is not the only thing that worries me. The QB situation worries me too. But I see how you can miss on a QB like Gus did on JJ. The receivers worry me because we have 8-10 on scholarship and not one good receiver among them. That is very telling on our evaluation of high school receivers.

You are correct we have very many problems on that side of the ball and the receivers are not the sole cause. I guess i just seemed to focus on them because even when JJ looked decent throwing the ball so many were just flat out dropped.

Playing devil's advocate for the players who are still on the roster for next year, the first 3 years they had either All SEC Caliber WRs or Jeremy Johnson as a QB in practice + games

2013- Auburn threw for <2500 yards of which ~50% went to Coates/RiCardo Louis

2014- Auburn threw for <3000 yards of which ~67% went to Coates/Duke/Quan Bray

2015- They were catching atrocious passes from Jeremy Johnson
