Of course one of them was 5-7 San Jose State (who is in the Cure (For Insomnia?) Bowl vs GA Southern).

And the one FCS team we played (who nearly beat us) is the #1 seed and odds-on favorite to win the Championship.

Season still sucked rocks, but it's not like we lost to anyone as bad as, say, Arky in 2012.

Reminds me of Fake Bo Pellini on Twitter. If anyone's on Twitter, you need to follow that account.

Most of them are better in context when he's commentating on what's happening during games.

Seriously? Dude, all but LSU and Bama (until garbage time TD) were one possession games. Step away from the ledge or at least lay off the damn exclamation points.

And people wonder why are fan base acts like pussies.

Yeah Arkansas is a win if we catch passes that hit our hands. Ole miss is a win with healthy Sean. State was his first start. Uga had a lot of missed opportunities

This season was the exact opposite of 2013. We lost every close game and didn't catch any breaks.

Is this thread for people who think we were really close to having a good year?

This is true. We also could have lost three more.

But only two games really were out of hand, and of those, we were within striking distance of Alabama most of the game, we just needed a big, turnover as a gamechanger that never happened.

Sorry guys, I just cant be a sunshine pumper after seeing what we put on the field this year.

I don't feel like we lost close games because the ball didn't bounce our way. I feel we are in trouble because we had to depend on the ball bouncing our way to win instead of play good solid football. I know we had several breaks in 2013 but i also felt like things fell our way because we were good enough to make our own luck. We had great QB, receivers that could catch and a D that stood strong when they needed to.

This year looked comical, 4 or 5 games could have been won with just 1 receiver who could catch a ball. I don't see that as "the ball didn't bounce our way". I see it as we are in real trouble for the next 2 years.

That said War Damn Eagle!!!!!

What people dont mention is that we could have also easily lost some of the games we won

So you're saying if the ball bounces our way in Ricardo's hands that we're a 10 or 11 win season.

Every team has those games. That's how football works Our 2010 national championship year could be defined the same way as this year's except we didn't get the breaks. Same thing goes for 2013

Michigan State isn't in the CFP if not for a miraculous punt bobble + scoop & score with no time remaining. Alabama isn't in without Arky's 4&25, etc.

(I think our team this year was bad and that our breaks were proportional to the shitty football we played. And in no way am I pleased or optimistic about last year's performance and how it translates to next year. Just poking holes, here )

We were super close to being 9 win potential 10 win team this year.

We definitely wouldn't deserve it with our offensive dumpster fire and avg defense but Arky/UGA/MSU/Ole Miss were all a few bad bounces/dropped passes away from being potential Ws

I agree 100%. But you cant have it both ways. You wins some close ones, you lose some close ones.

Bottom line too many wins were close. There is always going to be a team or two that gives you a scare, but that was not the case this year.

Offense struggled and D still not very good. I am amazed we were close in most games. I know this may sound crazy, but given the massive cluster this year was, it leaves me cautiously optimistic about next year. Hopefully no qb implosion, we don't have to kick our best WR off the team, and we do not lose our best defender for more than half the season in the first game.

I disagree.

We had serious issues, and I think at best we could have been 8-4. We were one defensive play from beating Arky on three separate snaps in o/t (two 4th down conversions and their first 2-point PAT). Knock down one of those passes and we win, period. And that's despite all the drops by our WR.

And I think if we just keep playing UGa the way we played TAMU the week before we would have pulled that one out as well. But JJ fell apart after the INT, then Gustav/Lashlee panicked and put in a gimpy Sean White, and we gave it away.

Those two teams weren't appreciably better than us, IMHO. I think the other four games were going to go against us no matter what.

Despite my OP, this was the absolute worst set of teams in the SEC in decades. The only season where the conference as a whole was worse was in '79, when outside of Bama only probation-racked and Barfield-coached AU was ranked at year's end.
