Who do you think will be out two deep? Which player(s) are you most excited to see? Any potential draft picks coming out of this group? Who will have the most sacks out of this group? Will the true freshman have an impact this year?

Montravius Adams
Derrick Brown
Byron Cowart
Marlon Davidson
Jeff Holland
Antwuan Jackson
Paul James
Jauntavius Johnson
Devaroe Lawrence
Dontavius Russell
Maurice Swain
Raashed Kennion

Carl Lawson/Jeff Holland
Montravius Adams/Maurice Swain/Jauntavius Johnson
Dontavius Russell/Devaroe Lawrence/Andrew Williams
Byron Cowart/Marlon Davidson/

Antwuan Jackson will redshirt.

Derrick Brown will play plenty.

Monty and Russell will start. Or, Monty and Lawrence.

Byron Cowart / Marlon Davidson sounds like a battle to keep an eye on for the starting bookend to Lawson.

I have no idea how Paul James and Jeff Holland fit into the dline. Are they strong enough to play SDE? Holland drew some rave reviews for being physical at the LOS during the spring.

2 deep

DE - Lawson, James
DT - Adams, Swain or Johnson
DT - Russel, Lawrence
DE - Cowart, Davidson

I think Holland is used more in specialized pass rush roles and will essentially be in the 2 deep, but not as a true D end.

I have to think if Lawson is healthy all year, he'll have the most sacks.

Marlon Davidson will probably have the most immediate impact of the freshman. I think Derrick Brown will see plenty of PT too.

I think we rotate 5 DTs

Montravius Adams
Dontavius Russell
Devaroe Lawrence
Maurice Swain
Derrick Brown

At DE I think we rotate 6

Carl Lawson
Marlon Davidson
Byron Cowart
Jeff Holland
Paul James
Raashed Kennion

So that's a solid 11 man rotation up front which I feel real good about. As for player I am most excited to see it has to be the freshmen Davidson & Brown. Davidson has already proven he is ready to start & I am curious to see what kind of impact Brown can make. As for most sacks if Lawson stays healthy he is the easy answer. After that I think either Paul James or Jeff Holland is there

No excuse this season even if Lawson goes down for this group to not produce. I feel good about our DL & DBs this season that if both groups play at level they are capable of we can allow some of our young LBs like Darrell Williams & Deshaun Davis to develop

don't be so sure about Antwuan Jackson redshirting. He's been very impressive in the spring and summer. Right there with Brown. I think he gets in there as the 6th man in the DT rotation.

Jauntavius Johnson is another guy that can help vs. the run

I want to see Jeff Holland more. He looks like he could be very good. Also excited to see Brown play.

Based on him being the starter leaving spring practice

I'm excited about this dude. He was the only one who put Fournette on his arse last year. Wished he would've got more playing time.

I guess. It's hard for me to wrap my head around a freshman proving anything until he plays in an actual game. Not that it means anything coming from me.

Ya I get that but in my defense I said proved ready to start & he left a starter so doesn't feel like too much of a stretch

I know, I'm not arguing with you. I knew he had high praise in spring, but I forgot he actually came out ahead of Cowert on the depth chart.

Do we actually know that or is it something we just made up?

Davidson, a former four-star recruit, surpassed sophomore and former No. 1 recruit Byron Cowart after just eight practices. He had four tackles during last week's spring game, tying for most by a defensive lineman.

IMO that was Garner's way of lighting a fire under Cowart

Possibly & like he says in article he uses all sorts of starting lineups. My original point was that so far he has proven he can be a starter on our defense due to the fact he left spring as the #1 at SDE so I am excited to see him contribute.

I would not be shocked if Cowart took the starting spot over fall camp. From all accounts he has done well over summer workouts. Bottom line this group has the chance to be really good no matter whose starting

No doubt. I wouldn't hesitate to believe Davidson is better.

whats amazing to me is that we are debating whether the number 1 HS player is going to be a back up or not. Talk about having depth

I think the bolded players are drafted in the future. I don't think RK carries enough weight.
