Two interesting items from the article:
1. The team had never previously practiced a kick six return (I was under the impression they had)
2. Charlie Harbison gets credit for subbing in C Davis for Ryan Smith (again, not sure how but I had always been under the impression that Gus made that call)

I heard that Ellis took credit for the substitution.

The overall idea idea may have been Ellis, but harbison wanted to switch smith with davis.
It could be 40 years from now and these stories will never get old.

As an aside I would now think that a long field goal at the end of either half time or the end of a game would automatically mean there would a return guy at the back of the endzone.
Way back when (when we were #6 in the country) at the end of the first half against Louisville, Louisville tried a 61 yard field goal with 1 second left on the clock. I was shocked that of all teams Auburn did not put a return guy to run it out.
Although now that I think about how this year has gone....our return guy would catch the ball run 5 yards, fumble and a Louisville player would have fallen on the loose ball in the endzone for a TD.
There's a fine line betwen playing to win and playing not to lose. Auburn has not played to win in a long time!
