Yep, his wife and kids stayed here so they could finish out school. His daughter is a student at Auburn, she's a Pi Phi sister of one of my friend's daughter.

Sheeeeit, he could have retired comfortably just on the buyout we gave him.

Having two kids of my own, I can't imagine how hard it would be to be away from them like that. Good for him though.

What is the general opinion here on hiring Chizik as the athletic director? Do you think he would be an upgrade from JJ and would do the hard things?

My vote would be no. We need a strong outside candidate.

No thanks. He would be having our players and coaches tailed.

Not sure what makes a former head football coach qualified to run an athletic department.

ADs are essentially multimillion dollar businesses, a FB coach doesn't have the background necessary to run such an operation.

The success stories speaks more to the talent of that AD

If its so hard how did Auburn wind up with Jay Motherfricking Jacobs as AD?

Because Jay is willing to be bent over by the boosters

.... So you want to suggest it isn't a hard job by pointing out an example of a guy who can't handle it?

Jacobs got it because he is a top notch fundraiser + ties to influential people. As we can see by this example, being an "Auburn man" isn't going to cut it

If we'd only get a guy who could tell the big-money boosters to frick the hell off, we could Make Auburn Great Again.

What if he was hired as an analyst? Break down defenses for Gustavo?

Bad idea. We need to stay as far away from gene as we can.

Our AD consistently makes money and competes with the best schools in the country on facilities and atmosphere. Outside of being a goober that says stupid shite I don't see where he is a bad AD.

What is the reason for that?

My main reason would be that, while he was HC at Auburn, most of his defenses were really shitty.
