Maybe someone here can help me out. What is the attraction ( if any) to this guy? His team is rank #92 in the country in total offense. He must be a good man who fits the Creed. I'm just a low count poster that should probably post less but help a brother out.

There's a thread at the top where this question can be asked and probably has already been answered. Thank you for your post.

Auburn has a real chance to be playing for a title next year. I hope we hire an experienced coordinator and not settle on someone.

Arizona State had 5 qbs injuries this year. So he used 5 qbs out og necessity, not because he went full retard like our head coach.

He can actually develop QBs and has a pedigree in pass heavy and even air raid offenses.

We need to develop QBs and our weakness is passing, so a meshing of the offenses is logical.

This is his first year at ASU and they had shite for talent so I don't think that reflects his abilities. His offenses at Southern Miss were better

Chip Kelly:
quote:

“In high school, I was more of a spread you out guy,” he said. “You still have to run the football and we still had that element, but you’ve got to get the best athletes you can on the field. All you can present to them is to have a good time. You don’t have a scholarship to offer.

“In college, you realize you better be able to run the football,” he added. “Then, you can have play-action and tempo and the screen game and all those other things.”

Doesn't sound like a tenet of the air raid philosophy.

He's really not. He was only on Malzahn's staff as an Analyst (ie: the position you take to break into collegiate coaching) and unlike Lashlee he had his own thing going for him long before he ever met Malzahn.

Lindsey is a good hire. He will be a collegiate head coach within 5 years.

Folks around here will come around. Chip is one of the most personable people you will ever meet. He is well known around AL and GA and will be a lights out recruiter, which we needed.

If you want to see what he can do, check out Southern Miss's numbers from 2014 (his first year) and their jump in year 2. In 2015 he had his show rolling with an experienced QB, and was snatched up by ASU quickly.

quote:

At Southern Miss this season, Lindsey coordinated an offense that ranks ninth nationally in total offense, at 519 yards per game, and 12th in scoring at 40.6 points. Quarterback Nick Mullens completed 64 percent of his passes for 4,145 yards and a school-record 36 touchdowns as the Golden Eagles (9-4) earned a berth in Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl.

This is no different than calling Brian Vangorder a terrible coach because of what happened in 2012.

Chip Lindsay might be a decent offensive coordinator. Could be great. Could be genius. Could be terrible.

We'll never really know because the head coach has put together a terrible program that doesn't foster success on the offensive side of the ball.

This was kinda how I felt about Rhett Lashlee. Great move for him to get out from under Gus Malzahn to at least figure out how good he is or isn't.

Its honestly getting to be a terrible career move to think you can work under Gus Malzahn as an offensive coordinator. Your salary can double or triple coming from wherever you were to Auburn, but then you might go from possible head coach discussions to taking the same position and half of your salary at a lower tier school.
