Here's a comparable SEC roster that runs a 4-3 just like us that is also amongst the better units. I'll save you the suspense: the DL/DE numbers are very similar too. Now I obviously haven't included their 40 times, but given who was recruiting these kids, I'll assume they have SEC caliber speed.
So given that the heights, weights, and speeds are all similar, there has to be another variable that makes one unit that much worse than the other. One word: COACHING. I think CBVG is copping out with a bullshite statement. It's disappointing.

Whose average size is 244 lbs.
Compare that to Auburn
Whose average size is 231 lbs.
I'd say that's a pretty big difference wouldn't you?

I would love to see a gif of the airport heckler doing a fly over at JHS with a banner trailing that says "I told you so" and then pan in to the cockpit that shows the airport heckler and Petrino flying the plane. That would be classic.

Replace Bates with Frost and it goes up to 235. I think CBVG is copping out. We may be a little undersized and undermanned, but not enough to justify the way we are losing (A&M and Georgia).
