This statement makes me think you don't watch basketball other than when Auburn's playing. Mcadoo is a junior and his free throw shooting has gotten worse each year (62% as a freshman, 52% now as junior). Free throw shooting is a lost art even in the NBA.

I can't believe the number of people who have changed their position on Barbee after a few close losses and wins over bad teams. I'm indifferent because I don't know that Auburn can actually get someone better, but I'm afraid people are starting to accept the yearly invitation to the Moral Victory Tournament.

Auburn is playing at the level of the top teams in the conference.
That's pumping a lot of Sunshine there. If AU was actually playing at that level they would finish much better than they do in the last minute of games.

who in the conference you can guarantee this Auburn team will lose to?
Auburn if the game is within 3 or less in the last minute.

We can definitely get someone who can run the 2005 Phoenix Suns offense.

And Mike Dantoni likely is out of a job in LA. Give him a call. Can't imagine he is going to have a ton of people knocking after shitshows in NY and LA

Didn't realize Mcadoo had gotten so bad this year. How is UNC as a team this year? What about previous years?

Point still stands. The best teams with the best coaches consistently shoot free throws well. That is a known fact. Barbee has not had a single team that is even respectable with regards to free throw shooting.

I would saw most of Auburn's losses (80%) are close losses that went down to the wire. Last year, the team got worse and was basically a 1 man team. This year this has been better and everyone has bought in to what Barbee wants. Getting production from several players. Others coaches can see Auburn's improvement but Auburn fans can't. I guess it's because we expect an instant turnaround like in football. Oh well, I'm sure Barbee will be successful whereever he goes. We'll probably hire another mid-major upandcomer and give him a 4 years leash.

As I said previously, watch how they finish the season. It will be very telling.

I predict it won't be pretty. I very much hope I'm wrong though.

Comparing UNC team to Auburn team isn't far. Auburn isn't an elite basketball program like UNC. If you are expecting a coach to make us into UNC, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, you might be waiting awhile. Those should recruit themselves, Auburn doesn't have that luxury.

Right now as a team, Auburn shoots free throws better than Georgetown, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Florida State, Syracuse (#1 team in the country), Kentucky, and Ole Miss. Louisville, UNC, and Texas too.

I concur. We should give him another year.

You guys are so bipolar. Lose a few competitive games against good teams, and all of a sudden Barbee should stay.

He's not going to hit .500 in the conference, and it's a pretty terrible conference overall this year. He's been given enough time.

I only count 5 losses last year that I would classify as a "blowout". We have 3 this year with 5 games left. We do have 3 more wins this year, but as I argued, I think the schedule this year is a good bit easier (obviously this is my opinion)

Again, if that is enough improvement for you, then fine. I however think it is not.

You were the one that brought them up in the first place.

Nope. All I said was Barbee hasn't had a single team that is good at free throws. All of those teams, and all of those coaches I can say consistently have good free throw shooting teams.

What about the rest of the years Barbee has been here?

ETA: we are 71% as a team. That is abysmal by any standard.

So, needless to say, Barbee is statistically the worst coach since Edney.

He's got brand new facilities to work with coupled with more national branding/name recognition than AU has ever had. The guy is a flop and won't get AU anywhere near the tournament.

I'm assuming they aren't putting this season's record so far in those stats?

No, it's off Wikipedia. But I did compare the first 3 seasons of past AU coaches and the statement held true.

Add in this season so far, he improved to .255 overall in conference.

Now if only they'll amend the win/loss column with a "lost/<10", he'll be cleaning up the W's.

Yeah, for as much flack as Lebo got, he was 0.313 after season 3 in conference.
