Have you seen the new exterior of Tiger Stadium? I wouldn't describe it as 'awesome'.

We don't need to add much if any capacity, but if they want to add some premium seats and they think the improvements make sense financially then I guess that is fine.

Agreed, I always thought getting to 90-93ish thousand and enclosing an endzone with suites and a pavilion would be the best option.

cutting off the view from the ramps...but then where will those of us who like to stand and get excited go when someone yells "down in front?"

Honestly, added capacity is the least of my concerns for JHS. I would rather they spend the money on things like restrooms, concessions, new scoreboard (one in each endzone), sound system and make the outside of the stadium look better.

Especially the one in the north end zone....

Looks like something you'd find at a HS stadium.

Yeah, it's pretty bad.

Also on my wish list is better 4g coverage at the stadium and around Auburn on game day (don't know if that's something the University can do or not).

Me too. Obviously capacity will be bumped, but I'd rather have the best 90k seat stadium in the country than try and keep up with schools that have larger fan bases (where we don't have a need).

Sometimes you can get away with turning off your 4gLTE and the 3g works pretty well.

Ya, it is a nifty little trick you can try almost anytime you get bad 4G connection since sometimes 3G has better coverage.

In terms of the game though, most people nowadays have 4G phones and so you are competing with 80k+ people for connection to the 4G cell towers. Thats why you often have service bars in the stadium but internet doesn't work, eveyrone is completely destroying the bandwidth.
Since there is 4G signal, the phones don't auto try for 3G because of just "slow" data. If you switch to the 3G no one is on it should work fine.

I read an article last year where Jacobs said they were spending a good amount of money in sprucing it up, but not doing a massive expansion.
I took this to mean they would fix the most obvious things: new sound system, brick out the erector set, new score board, maybe add some extra seating. I was under the impression they had enough cash and the right mindset to do all that.
Whatever the case may be, there's plenty for them to do now, it's all the mere 'talk' about it that bugs me. There's been too many complaints voiced (especially over sound system), makes me wonder what they're wait on exactly.
Personally, I would pimp out the whole thing, make it look and sound like a stadium that makes visiting recruits swoon.

Just got an email survey from the AD asking a second round of questions about renovations/new seating options.

quote:

CONCEPT 1 -- FIELD SUITES
The renovations could include a small number of private suites on the field level of the south end zone. Field suites could include 12-16 outdoor seats that are lower and closer to the playing field than any other seats in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Field suites also could feature an enclosed climate-controlled private room equipped with amenities such as in-suite food service, HDTVs, refrigerators, ample counter space and comfortable lounge seating. Field suite patrons also could have access to a large club lounge with views to Pat Dye Field and adjacent to the tunnel in which players and coaches enter the stadium as part of the historic Tiger Walk

CONCEPT 2 -- FIELD CLUB SEATS
A potential new club seat section would be located in the front half of the lower level (approximately the equivalent to current rows 2 -27) in the south end zone and feature wider, padded seats with backrests. Field Club Seat patrons could have access to an indoor private, climate-controlled club space on the field level equipped with lounge seating, multiple HDTV’s, premium food and full bar service. The club lounge could also include views to the playing field and a portion of the Tiger Walk as players and coaches enter the Stadium.

CONCEPT 3 -- CLUB SEATS
A club seating area in the north end zone could be introduced that would include wider, padded seats with backrests. The seats would include access to an indoor private, climate-controlled club easily accessible from the seating area. The private club also could be equipped with lounge seating, multiple HDTV’s, premium food and full-bar service and views of the playing field.

CONCEPT 4 -- TERRACE CLUB SEATS
A new seating level above the current north end zone sections could be part of the renovations. These seats would be wider than existing seating in Jordan-Hare and have backrests. Patrons could have access to an enclosed lounge with views of the playing field and the Auburn campus to the north of the Stadium. The lounge would include upgraded food and beverage items for purchase, multiple HDTV’s and seating areas.

CONCEPT 5 -- FIELD CLUB MEMBERSHIPS
A limited number of memberships to the Field Club located at the field level of the south end zone may be offered. Field level club memberships would not have seats associated with them but could be available to individuals who currently purchase Tigers Unlimited priority season tickets (Gold, Orange, Blue or Gray Zone seats). Memberships would be an additional purchase from the priority season tickets. The climate-controlled club could offer premium food selections, bar service and views of the playing field and a portion of the Tiger Walk as players and coaches enter the stadium.

I'm not sure how well received the first option would be, because it seems like your sight lines would be drastically reduced being at field level.

Also, if they are talking about doing things in the south endzone, I wonder if they are considering relocating the student/recruit sections in the south stands to use most/all of that area for the new seating options.
