What kind of offense do they run?

I think they kept Gus' offense but the ran it 57 times and passed 13.

Our defensive line will win this game for us. Plus, they are Arkansas State and We are Auburn. We will win this game by 21 points. Gus wont run it up any higher than that but it will be 38-17 or something like that.

Then we get State at home to get our first SEC win in two year.

I just rewatched Corey Grant's TD run and he can fly. Unlike so many other runs I have seen, no one was even close to keeping speed with hiim let alone catching up. The top end speed of his is unbelievable

Here are ASU's highlights from Saturday. Their HC was the OC at Texas the last two years, and was the OC at Boise before that... looking at the highlights, it looks very similar to Malzahn's offense, and featured a ton of 'wildcat'. Also, Oku is very talented RB. Not sure about their new QB... there wasn't much to go on based on the above.

I was a little surprised by what I saw on the highlights, to be honest.... Texas worked a lot more from under center the last two years, same for Boise in 2010. I thought I'd see more of that in Ark State's offense. Regardless, we'll have to stop the run and make their new QB beat us.

Did State change thier offense or keep Gus'?

If they kept Gus', then AU should have no issue Saturday. (They should have no issue regardless.)

Gus and EJ should know every tendancy that State will try to run...hell it's his offense.

Based on the first game, State went one demensional against basically a HS team. Either they cannot pass or chose not to. They ran 57 times and passed 13. They fumbled twice but I assume that is due more to the number of run plays.

We just played a pass heavy team and had 3 INTS...should have had 6. I am sure EJ will run his more traditional 4-2-5 defense and not play nearly as much nickel and dime sets.

I see a 35-14 type game.

Arky PB's OL and DL look terrible. No wonder Arky st. Ran all over them.

We know Monty Adams can get pressure on the QB, we are about to find out if he plug the middle on designed runs.

Not based on anything yet.

I did not see Daniel get on the field Saturday. Do we possibly think he could redshirt? I had heard the coaches talk like he would be getting a lot of snaps this year.

I think Wazzou is probably a better team than Ark State... they had one common opponent last season -- Oregon. Wazzou played UO tough in Seattle while Ark State played dead in 1st half in Eugene. There's no question WSU is an improved team over their 2012 squad (granted, that might not be saying much considering how bad they were), while ASU only returns 11 starters and is going through another new head coach.

None of that matters for this saturday, though... the familiarity between the two coaching staffs leaves some uncertainty... stAte retained Gus's DC from last year.

I didn't see him but read an article that says he participated in the game.

just my uneducated opinion, but if Daniel doesn't play this saturday he's headed for a redshirt. Wazzou is a pass-happy team and from all accounts Daniel is a HUGE DE... to the point where his future may be at DT. He'll be more effective against a run-first team like Ark State where his size is an asset... as opposed to Lawson, who's strength is speed (much more effective in pass rush against a team like WSU).

It's only Tuesday, I'm ready for this game. I'm tired of thinking about it.

I had a great time at the tailgate Saturday. Im ready for that again this week

I am really not worried about this game. Auburn will win the game by atleast two TD's. We will grow a bunch this week.

I honestly believe our defense will be swarming this weekend. The guys seem to be having fun out there Saturday. The Secondary was gelling as the day went on. That is a very positive thing.

ETA. Hopefully, Gus will be calmed down some. Dude looked like he was going to blow a gasket Saturday.

And RG was not happy with Carl Lawson on a few plays. Did anyone else see him tell Lawson to go get on the bench.

Anyone think the main reason for the limited play calling on offense and not opening it up for NM wasn't because they want to ease him in, but because they don't want MS State to have good film on him? If that's the case do we see only a slight improvement from last weekend until the grinders come to town and they really let him run the offense.

Or is that just wishful thinking on my part?

I told you guys last week that it would be very simple. Of course that is pretty common. A good many runs and about 18-20 throws... Seemed about right

We should polish up on that a little this week. I am sure that Gus held back a little not to show but for the most part, I think he will bring Marshall along slowly.

To me, and I was the one who said Jake Holland would be "better", Marshall looked like he got more comfortable in there in the second half Saturday. He looked good running the ball. I can see his legs being a serious threat. His passing will also come along

I feel good about him as the year goes along and going into next season

I saw Garner tearing Lawson a new one and Gus getting at both Prosch and Marshall.

He was screaming at Jay saying, "How do you not know that?!" It was obviously a lineup mistake which is easily fixed but Jay is a leader and he should get yelled at.

I like that attitude!

for a first game with a new staff, I thought we did a pretty good job with substitutions and knowing the correct formations... i can only remember one sub infraction (ricardo louis) on offense and non on defense. For the most part, it seemed like we had the basics down. We did bust a couple coverages, RB slipped out at least twice and burned us... also the inside slot guy was wide open on the vertical route (probably their longest play of the game).
