I know this won't go down well for some of you but...

The week after we struggle with Mercer, we kick off the former starting QB who is pretty well liked around the locker room and a former #1 recruit and still come out looking good on the road.

Yes it was Mizzou and they suck but how many times do you see a team play down to competition in that kind of situation?

That's no small feat

It did indeed look as if Gus got his head out of his arse. I'm ready to see how we look against the meat of our sched.

Mercer is a better team than Mizzou this year so I haven't learned much about our offense yet. We will know more next weekend but yes, definitely an improvement

We did what were supposed to do. Which is great.

One major critique though is use a fricking timeout on D. The first scoring drive, if he calls a damn TO, they don't score. We had two left, with only a few minutes left in half and didnt need it on the offense.

Sometimes it helps to have some negative film to keep the players focused. Mizzou O and QB are legit. Our D when focused played well. The back ups made a lot of mistakes, especially at LB and corner.

I'll have no problem being proven wrong about Gus and yeah, it looks like he's given Chip more decision making with the O. Still, this was a bad Mizzou team and the knock on Gus hasn't been how he's performed against bad teams. Let's see what happens against Miss State, @ LSU, and UGA.

I'll give Gus credit for yesterday. That was his offense on display, so he gets the credit for it when it works. I'm still skeptical it will be effective against quality opponents. The good news is that the SEC seems to be lacking in the quality opponent department this season.

Kudos do Gus for doing what he needed to do with SW. Also, for getting the team up to play yesterday.

Some complaints now Not directed towards Gus. Don't know who to direct them towards? Herb Hand? Lindsey?

Stidham threw 17 passes probably only 12 pass the LOS. Would have liked to work the field more. Also, the oline is just not getting it done. I don't care how good Stidham is if the run game doesn't improve quick it's going to be tough sledding

I liked that our backups got reps. On both sides.

I let you guys melt the last two weeks. I was not and have not been one of the "Fire Gus" fans. Not that I have some kind of love for everything that is Gus but it was just stupid at this point.

WE have not looked stellar but fortunately for us, this year we have a. schedule that allows us to start slow. We are improving with a brand new QB, a mixed up Offensive line and a new offensive coordinator.....

Defense is very stout and we are rotating guys in who need reps. Lots of positive things going on right now. I hate we lost Cowart and White but there is nothing Gus or anyone else can do about that

IF everyone will just chill the frick out and let things develop, this team will be fine

I would say Im sorry about last nights tourette's outbreak but I'm not.. frick a bunch of alters and fans who don't give a shite

He was making a conscious effort last night to appear as if he wasn't involved with the offense (mic up, no clipboard).

I didn't watch the game as closely as I like to--save that for the replay--but kudos to Gus for letting Stidham throw deep balls early. Also, good to see all the younger guys get a good bit of reps.

It was the fourth game of the season. It always takes him four games to figure it out.

I think if the Oline can develop, this will be a very strong team. Like others said, the schedule sets up pretty well to let the offense come along.

And it is amazing to think no team has scored more than two touchdowns so far.

I always hope Gus pulls it off, I was worried he did not have that much HC experience, and this league can be unforgiving. But I really hope he proves all the doubters wrong.

I am still concerned Stidham holds the ball too long, esp with the Oline somewhat questionable. But overall yeah, give Gus credit.

Yea, I don't think Stidham is going to fix that in a week. It takes a little time to gain the confidence to let the ball go. He is playing better each week..

I know Mizz is bad but I thought the Oline played better too...

Id like to see Jarrett learn to slide. He is taking some big shots on his runs outside. I love the effort but we need him healthy. We are just one bad hit from playing with a true freshman at QB

Our routes flat out take way too long to develop.

I agree with that. I did find it promising that on one play he just went out of bounds versus trying to make the 1st down when we were already 5 scores ahead.

And I think he will get faster in making the decisions gradually. You can see he is gaining confidence. Miss State should be a good game for him. And I am not even sure if Ole Miss will be playing at all after what Alabama is going to do to them.

Hopefully, he is really looking good by the time we get to LSU.

I think most of us grew up with the offense taking longer to develop than the D.
