Is there any context to the state of Alabama recruits in the upcoming class. Supposedly it’s historically great.

It’s insane. I talked about it last year when the first iteration of the rankings came out and I just assumed it was because Alabama HS FB played full speed through the pandemic so the kids in state were getting more evaluation than usual. I think corch and I talked about it but more of the credit goes to the HS football programs in state now. Huge shift in resources and a lot of good coaches and private training facilities. I expect Alabama’s talent to continue to be incredible

Yes it a really great class but still a hair overrated. There are definitely 15-20ish sec caliber players. Getting the right mix of that 20 is the key. We absolutely can’t get dominated in the top 10 and can’t let UGA grab 1 or 2 and Clemson grab 1 or 2 of the top 15 and then bama take who they want and leave us with the leftovers even if they are talented.

Some new offers and guys to watch according to 247/KN

4* RB Jeremiah Cobb, Montgomery
4* DL Kayden McDonald, Gwinnett

4* DE T.J. Searcy and 4* DL Hunter Osborne will visit Auburn in March. Both already know Brumbaugh and it sounds like he really hit the trail hard in January

JT Daniels?

Not really a fan of his, but a radio guy was saying today he could really see JT looking at AU

I doubt it. We don't have the WRs or OL to attract him plus we already brought in 2 transfers QBs. Add in Finley, Davis, and Geriner and thats already 5 people competing for the job. I'm guessing he wants a place that he's near guaranteed to start too.

I would love to get Daniels. He better than any body we have by far. I don't think he would come but if our coaches did not try then they failed us again.

That’s huge but don’t be trying to sneak that in while basketball is being played. Lol

There’s a lot of OL recruiting news. DL too. This isn’t a coincidence, IMO. Not saying Harsin is on a warpath or anything but I don’t think they’ll be recruiting as quietly this cycle. Etheridge’s stamp is already being seen

In Hardin’s interview at the Sr Bowl he said he is just now able to visit schools and coaches for the 1st time.

Not sure if that was Covid or I miss understood but seems crazy

That’s mostly true. Since recruiting really started in June due to Covid restrictions. He did have July, I think, to get around to schools but that was about it before Fall practices kicked off.

It’s not the hugest deal nowadays, IMO. But still important

There’s a lot of OL recruiting news.

Auburn’s offensive line coach, Will Friend took a country-wide tour of sorts before the dead period began. For about two weeks he was on the road all over the country seeing OL targets that he had scouted previously. It didn’t matter where they were, he wanted to make sure he met with them and got to know them.

Joe Bernardi now holds that assistant position. Bernardi has been a massive asset to Friend in contacting and helping bridge relationships with offensive linemen around the country.

Is Etheridge involved in every position recruiting now? Even OL? Or are you talking about DL recruiting?

I hope the bitzkrieg on OL is actually going to work...closing has been the problem...

Etheridge is the recruiting coordinator for defense and I imagine he’ll work on recruitments in his area regardless of position. But it looks like we’re getting way more visibility on recruit offers and visits and Etheridge is getting tagged a lot. To me, it looks like an effort to raise the visibility of coaches on the trail. Could also be coincidence

Couple of nuggets from Dukes/247

Auburn has a silent commit. Dukes found out from the commitment. Says he’s a 4* guy with major SEC offers. Should announce around a month from now. That coincides with a large Auburn Junior day planned for March 19

Dukes says Auburn is broadening it’s scope of committable offers early on. He said this is a big shift from last year and should help recruiting efforts. Sounds like a lesson learned from last season.
