KN's insider recapping some nuggets on visitors this past weekend

- KN's intel says Bama still team to beat for 5* C Clay Webb but always good to get him on campus. Visited with some teammates. Long way off from a decision

- Torrance Gibson made the trip with Daquan Newkirk but as of now KN says not much going on between AU & Gibson.

- 4* Asa Martin stayed the night and apparently had about 20 minutes of 1 on 1 time with Lindsey. The two are close

- 4* Keiondre Jones made the visit as well and spent some time with Herb Hand and Rodney Garner. KN says kid isn't doing interviews but that AU is a factor tho UGA/CLEM considered top teams right now

- Newkirk has been playing mostly DT this season and that's where he will play when he gets to AU. Says plans on being at almost every home game this year because he now has a ride. KN say Newkirk appears to be a very solid commitment

KN also has VIP article up on Clay Webb. Webb says AU's slow start offensively doesn't bother him, says his own team is having some of the same issues. Webb is friends with former teammate KJ Britt and apparently Britt's recruiting him hard. As of now, Webb plans on committing on his senior year NSD so he's a long ways from a decision. He's considering most of the SEC schools. Loves the family feel at AU

That needs to change.

And it might now with Sean White being dismissed.

Maybe. Worried Gibson is another John Franklin. He had a great first game but apparently look bad against EMCC

Definitely think we should try & grab a 2nd QB with White most likely gone. Would feel better have 4 QBs on roster

I really like Cordell Littlejohn. True dual threat QB. Playing at Roswell and I think he's working with same QB coach Malik Willis did as well

Also like Grayson's QB, DJ Irons but he isn't getting many D1 offers so not sure

3* DT Tramel Walthour committed to UGA. He was a guy on AU's radar but always appeared an UGA lock

Saw that. I think that makes my point even stronger. He didnt even make the cut for QB at a position where they already have guys who can't accurately throw the ball.

Agreed. Wasn't sure if you aware of that when you posted.

No it doesn't & no it won't with him completing less than 50% of his passes. Brandon Harris 2.0 as a QB.

We have a head coach that took a high school quarterback barely completely 50% of his passes, Woody Barrett. Don't underestimate Gus Malzahn when it comes to take a quarterback that can't pass.

So basically, if AUFamily is the United Kingdom, SECRant is Australia.

Best offensive lineman in Class of 2019 admires ‘really big family’ atmosphere at Auburn (SECCountry)
quote:

Clay Webb isn’t going to judge Auburn’s O-line play yet

AUBURN, Ala. — When Clay Webb watches Auburn offense, he sees some similarities to his own high school team.

The Tigers have a lot of talent up front, but things have yet to click 100 percent along the offensive line, which has held back the Auburn offense through three weeks. But Webb isn’t quick to judge. In fact, the 5-star offensive lineman in the 2019 class draws on some of his own Oxford (Ala.) High experiences to explain the process the Auburn line will need to use to get out of the funk.

“It’s probably going to work,” Webb said. “Our team’s having some offensive line struggles, too. We need to block a little bit better to start getting some more yards. They’ve just got to keep on working to try to get better.”

Webb attended Auburn’s Week 3 game against Mercer.

It didn’t look pretty, but that wasn’t what Webb was watching. Most of Webb’s time was spent talking with coaches, players and fellow recruits. The No. 16 overall player in the 2019 class felt right at home on the Plains.

“Definitely. I got to talk to some of the coaches, some of the players. I got to talk to my friend KJ [Britt, a former high school teammate] too, which is good. He says he loves it. He wants me to join right now,” Webb said. “It’s up to anything right now. I like the players. I like the coaches here. Just watch the way the coaches and players interact to see if there’s a mutual respect, bond, brotherhood.”

Webb isn’t in a rush — far from it.

Despite being a junior, he has experienced the recruiting process a good bit already. Alabama, Auburn and Georgia appear to be the early front-runners, though Webb said “most of the schools down in the SEC” remain in contention. It’ll be a long process, however.

Webb’s timeline right now is set for National Signing Day of his senior season, so its a long way until decision time.

Auburn finds itself in a solid position so far, at least.

“It’s like a really big family. Everybody comes together. Everybody works together. Everybody sweats and bleeds together,” Webb said. “I love the feeling I get when I come here. It’s like a big family. It’s like I’m walking right through my door.”
