KN had a VIP visitor notes post up this morning. AU had quite a few targets on campus to watch scrimmage. Summary below

- 4* DE Brenton Cox & 3* WR Marquez Ezzard completed a 3 day visit to AU by attending scrimmage. Their coach was here for coaching clinic so they came and stayed the whole time as well. UGA thought to be leader for both but AU hanging around

- 4* OT Christian Armstong made 2nd visit to AU

- 4* WR Jacob Copeland is back on campus for 2nd visit of year

- 3* LB Ernest Jones received an AU offer recently and is making 1st visit

- My favorite RB 4* Master Teague is making 2nd visit

- A TE to watch is 3* Ben Bresnahan

- AU offered 2019 4* WR Devonta Lee earlier this week & is visiting today

- 2019 C Louis Smith has AU offer and making another visit

- 2019 CB to watch DJ Turner has AU offer but no rating and is visiting

- 2019 LB Kane Patterson is on campus & KN says one of the top rising junior in Tennessee next year

- 3* LB Richard Jibunor was unable to make trip. Probably was on commit watch if he did

Luke Stampini put in a CB for 4* RB Asa Martin to UF. Apparently Martin is still a bit annoyed at how long it took AU to offer and really enjoyed visit to Florida this past weekend. KN says UF guys are very confident in landing him right now but AU people also seem to still like their chances. He will be on campus for A-Day

4* OT Christian Armstong visited Saturday and apparently had a good visit according to KN. He says we will be a national power next year and that he saw more passing out of offense at scrimmage tho they still ran it plenty. Doesn't have a top group but AU would be in it if he did. Florida State, Penn State & Tennessee are other teams he mentioned. Sounds like he really likes Herb Hand. AU trying to get him back on campus for A-Day but he is not sure if he make it just yet

AU is apparently trailing Duke for 3* LB Ernest Jones. However, the reason is pretty solid. Jones likes their medical program, also they are recruiting him the hardest. But sounds like AU is running #2 right now. Also being recruiting by Georgia Tech and South Carolina. He really likes Travis Williams and talks to him every other day. He plans on being an EE.

The biggest news though is 4* DT Coynis Miller is spending 3 nights in AU. 2017 signee Tadarrian Moultry is coming up to spend the week in AU on spring break and sounds like Miller is joining him for half of it before going to Alabama on Thursday to see their practice. He grew up a Bama fan but AU was first to offer and he has visited them the most

Also these comments are exactly why I don't think 3* Andres Fox lands at AU despite what keeps getting reported. This is from Bama SECCountry guy.
quote:

“They (my family) want me to go to Alabama because they think it’s the best place for me just because Nick Saban isn’t going anywhere,” Fox told SEC Country.

quote:

Alabama, Auburn and LSU make up Fox’s top 3 and no school holds an advantage over the next, he says. But the Crimson Tide sure have him thinking hard about committing there.

“That’s where all of the great players go and coach Saban isn’t going anywhere,” Fox said. “He’s legendary.”

quote:

Once again, Auburn enters this season with high expectations, and if the Tigers fall flat, that could be the end of Gus Malzahn. Fox has already thought of that scenario, but he’s confident that’s not going to happen.

“I think they’re going to have a good season this year because I think Chip Lindsey is going to develop the quarterback position well,” Fox said.

If he does end up committing to the Tigers, how would his parents feel since they want him to be part of the Crimson Tide?

“I think they would be OK with it,” Fox said with a laugh. “It would be a business decision.”

No way his business decision will be picking AU over Bama, that's not how this works

[quote]He has gotten a ton of heat for no reason IMO quote]

The heat is rightfully deserved. We are competing for championships and traded D Craig. for a kid that has only coached at the D1 level for 1 year. Hell he only played wr for 1 year and wasn't that great at it.
He may turn out to be great but the skepticism is rightfully deserved

It's hard to describe in words, how cynical and idiotic this post really is.. I hope people say the same about you in your career. How about giving someone the benefit of the doubt? Do you understand the concept behind being innocent until proven guilty?

The so called "heat" is inappropriately placed if you aren't a big fan of him being hired.

KB was an emotional leader on the 2010 National Championship team and even scored in the damn national championship game.. nobody said he was great, but he was instrumental in the success we had.

Big day for AU targets at Atlanta opening. Bo Nix, Richard Jibunor and Channing Tindall won position MVPs. Tindall and Justyn Ross got invited to Opening finals

With all due respect, what in the flying frick does that have to do with recruiting? KB wasn't ready as a recruiter. TWill was; KB, not. College football isn't a business to take personal. Being an Auburn man isn't going to pay the bills.

Supposedly some of the heat he's received has more to do with some mishaps in Mobile not his inexperience.

Could you elaborate on these so called mishaps? Unless you're talking about Metafour's drug-induced rants of nonsense or trying to say Ryan Johnson chose Stanford because of KB, and definitely not for a Stanford education.

quote:

Also, lot of people don't think Auburn is a place where you should have to learn on the job on a salaried position. That criticism isn't aimed at KB.

It is misplaced but some criticism is directed at KB for nothing at all but simply being hired. How dare one of our all important position coaches be young and maybe relate well with youth! I just hope that people give those that think that way, the same benefit of doubt in return.

Bro KB stole Noah Igbalgbtxyzlmnop from 4 win Notre Dame. He is the best WR coach in Lee County, show some respect

It is just funny to me, how some of these assumptions are being made, like he wasn't ready. It is truly ridiculous. Based off what?

Obviously, TW is a hell of a recruiter and we needed LBs last class. The jury is still out on KB because we didn't need WRs last class. KB's primary focus was on these next few classes and establishing those relationships. This year will show if he is a good recruiter or not and to say one way or the other at this point, isn't an accurate assessment.

You've mostly followed with assumptions bro. Do coaches not have areas they're assigned to? There are always other positions to help recruit if the WR spot is so set. Hell, sign a five star receiver over jatarvious whitlow if we're not set, or don't sign jatarvious as a WR at all if we are so set. Why did Burns get demoted from working Mobile? Tigerpawl said it was because Mobile was too important. Are you not smelling what the chef is cooking?

That's a complete guess on my part. I think Burns is the easy scapegoat replacing Lashlee. AU fans always need one

Bottom line is this year is chance to prove he can get it done. Plenty of WR talent available. Land some all is good. Land none excuses end

It really isn't criticism aimed against KB. Malzahn is the one who made the easy hire. I do believe Gus eventually realized he needed more recruiting firepower so he hired Porter. So that's a positive development.

I'm cool with people not liking hire. I didn't really either. But some on here (not talking about you) like to shite on Burns all the time which I think is dumb

Like I said I think this year will tell us a lot

I don't know why people just can't let it play out... but whatever.
