- The Alabama commit didn’t want to do interviews, but he let everyone take a photo of him, which was interesting. Why? He was decked out in full Auburn gear. Not often an Alabama commit allows a bunch of reporters to snag a photo in full attire of the in-state rival.
- He’s taken visits to Auburn and Georgia in the last week. He will visit again in the fall for games, so this is definitely worth watching.

- One of the nation’s top 2019 prospects still has Alabama on top, but said Auburn is in a group of three or four other schools who have a real chance to pass the Crimson Tide.
- What would Auburn have to do? The 2017 season is going to be one of the most persuasive factors. He likes the Tigers a lot. Now he wants to see what he loves about Auburn translate to some wins. He doesn’t need a championship season, just a sign of positivity to come.
- He plans to come to multiple home games this fall, even saying he’d make it to all the home games, if possible.
- Mwikuta says he’s “close” to a decision, but our definitions of close are slightly different. He says it could come as early as December when he sees some 2017 progress, but his decision could run until “this time next year.”
- The two main reasons he likes Auburn: Rodney Garner and the players he knows on the team.

- Auburn will receive an official visit, likely for a game.
- Williams said his relationship with Kodi Burns is one of Auburn’s biggest selling points. Burns has told him how badly Auburn wants a tall, physical receiver, which is exactly what Williams brings.

- Sherwood will make his decision by the beginning of August, so this one won’t last much longer.

Stay tuned

That’s all for now.

Don’t fret about the lack of public commitments. Auburn is in great position for several of its top targets, and the athletic complex has had a buzz about it the last couple of days.

Andres Fox hasn’t left yet, so there could be some details to add about the 3-star defensive end. Asa Martin didn’t speak with reporters, but you can check out the latest on him from earlier in the week.

The big target to watch going forward: Michael Harris. He’s staying overnight and won’t talk to reporters until Sunday. Auburn has supreme confidence on this one, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see an announcement in the near future.

Sounds like Quindarious Monday is 100% on board right now. Working Michael Harris and Caleb Tannor hard. Also says he's working on Justin Fields, Kearis Jackson and Marquez Ezzard (he committed to FSU recently). Also said he and Sherwood would make a great pair in the secondary

Why did Auburn offer Quanderrius Robinson, who is he and will Alabama counter? (AL.com)
quote:

Quanderrius Robinson has enjoyed quite the week. First, Auburn football offers him Friday after watching a private workout on campus. And on Saturday, Robinson, a future recruiting gem in the Class of 2020, was scheduled to work out for Alabama football.

Could this be another #WarEagle and #RollTide recruiting competition at Jackson-Olin?

"(Alabama) is already texting me, making sure he can (still) come workout with them," said Tim Vakakes, Robinson's high school coach at Jackson-Olin. "Word travels fast."

Robinson will play free safety this fall at Jackson-Olin, a Birmingham City School which enjoyed a resurgence last season (8-3), reaching the playoffs for the first time since the 1999 season. Robinson was a backup on the team, playing outside linebacker behind Montez Coleman and learning from fellow linebacker TD Moultry, now at Auburn.

Now it's time for Robinson to shine on Friday nights. Vakakes said Robinson was moved to defensive back because of necessity, but expects him to end his prep career at linebacker.

"He doesn't have a list of favorites," Vakakes said. "He doesn't have a favorite college team. He's just very new to all of this. This was his first visit to a college campus. Everything is real new, so he's very bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Smiling and just enjoying the process. But his process hasn't even started yet.

"He's got to make some football plays. He has no film. But it doesn't take (colleges) long to see potential. When you're 6-4 and 200 pounds and can move like him, that's definitely potential."

Jackson-Olin, seven seasons removed from a winless season, has enjoyed back-to-back high-profile recruits. Alabama and Auburn fought long and hard over Moultry, and defensive end Coynis Miller, who this fall will be a senior, can pick his SEC school of choice.

And now, Robinson could join the list.

"Everybody is absolutely in love with the kid because of the way he handles himself," Vakakes said. "I hope that he sees that gets you somewhere; shaking hands with a firm handshake, looking in their eyes. Being humble. Being the hardest worker.

"(At Jackson-Olin), we've had to slow him down in the weight room because he works so dag-on hard. So I'm hoping all that, and the work ethic he learn from T.D. will rub off on his him and his teammates."

Auburn leads for 3-star defensive back Derek Turner (AL.com)
quote:

Auburn leads for three-star defensive back Derek Turner and the Louisiana native plans to commit to a school as soon as the end of the month.

Turner was among the contingent of recruits to visit the Plains for this weekend's camp and cookout.

"Auburn is my top school right now and then Ole Miss and South Carolina," Turner said after his visit. "(Auburn secondary coach Greg) Brown is recruiting me the hardest."

Turner said he plans to make a commitment within a few weeks.

"Probably end of the month," he said. "Either end of July or early August."

Turner said he enjoyed his visit to Auburn and spending time with secondary coach Greg Brown, who was the first coach to offer him a scholarship.

"Coach Brown is guy I've known for a long time," Turner said. "That's a guy I really want to play for. ... I've been trying to get up here for the last couple of months. I think I did pretty well, he taught me some new things so it was pretty good."

The 5-foot-10, 182-pound Turner plays safety at West Feliciana High School in Saint Francisville, La. but is being looked at as a cornerback for the Tigers.

"Because I'm more physical at the line," Turner said. "(Brown) said I had tremendous speed so he wants to work with me at corner. But it's kind of a good transition because it helped me in the corner position. Although I play safety in high school, it's going to help me."

Alabama leads for 2019 4-star defensive end King Mwikuta but Auburn 'always in the mix' (AL.com)
quote:

Alabama leads for 2019 four-star defensive end King Mwikuta but Auburn is "always in the mix."

The LaGrange, Ga. native visited Tuscaloosa on Friday and Auburn on Saturday and while the Crimson Tide are still in the lead, things could change.

"(Alabama) still stand (as the leader) but like I said, Auburn always in the mix," he said. "I ain't going to name out no number right now, but Auburn always in the mix."

Mwikuta said the upcoming season, after which he plans to make his commitment, is going to play a big role in his decision.

"I can say one thing, it's going to be this season," he said. "If this season (Auburn) show me the things that I'm looking for, not only just winning the championship, but just showing me what can they do also like on and off the field. I'll be looking forward to (that) and then I'll be making my decision around that time."

Mwikuta said he's "real close" to committing to a school, but at the same time is not going to announce his decision until December at the earlier, if not for a year.

"I'm trying to wait till signing day but I'm itching," he said. "So I want to go ahead and make that decision soon. Maybe this time next year or either this coming December."

The 6-foot-4, 232-pound defensive end enjoyed his trip to the Plains and met with Auburn coach Gus Malzahn, defensive line coach Rodney Garner and linebackers coach Travis Williams.

He plans to visit Auburn for "every home game if I can" this fall.

As of now, Auburn is looking at Mwikuta as a Buck but he would prefer to be a strong-side end in college.

"They say Buck but I'd rather prefer to put my hand in the dirt," Mwikuta said. "Just for me by my standpoint just looking and doing stuff into what I'm doing. It don't matter. Say I come here, (I'll say) 'Coach you want to put me in the 4i (technique), I'll play anything.' It don't matter to me."

4-star running back Dameon Pierce plans official visit to Auburn after season (AL.com)
quote:

Since decommitting from Alabama two months ago, four-star running back Dameon Pierce has visited Auburn, Georgia and Florida.

Pierce enjoyed his second visit to the Plains and said Auburn will "of course" be a schools he takes an official visit to after the season.

"(I'll commit) anytime after the football season," Pierce said. "I'm focused on my high school season right now. Really waiting for all that to clear out. After that it's all gas no brakes after that."

Auburn, Florida, Georgia and LSU are all in the mix for Pierce, who does not have a leader at this point.

"It's kind of fluctuating right now in between Auburn, Florida and Georgia right now," he said Saturday. "I've got to take a visit to LSU soon and I got to get up to Georgia again and hopefully I'll have an answer."

The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Pierce left the door open to being an early enrollee but stressed he plans to take official visits to all four schools after the season.

"It depends on when I make my decision," he said. "If I make my decision before the second semester of school, of course I'll be an early enrollee."

For Auburn specifically, Pierce likes the coaching staff, specifically running backs coach Tim Horton.

"What you see is what you get from Auburn," Pierce said. "I love it. ... As soon as you walk in you got somebody greeting you at the car. You can't beat that. You feel like you're already home. It's a home away from home basically. Anybody would be glad to be here."

Caleb Tannor finds ‘good connection’ on Auburn overnight visit on eve of his Monday commitment (SECCountry)
quote:

AUBURN, Ala. — Caleb Tannor knows one thing for certain. He’ll announce his commitment on Monday.

The 4-star defensive end from Miller Grove High (Ga.) took part in Auburn’s summer cookout festivities Saturday. Tannor his been down to two schools — Georgia and Auburn — for a few weeks.

On Monday, he will decide.

“I’m very, very close,” Tannor said. “It’s been a good visit. It’s a good time for me to finalize my decision.”

As of Saturday afternoon, Tannor said he wasn’t completely sure who he would choose.

The Tigers will have one more night and day to sell him. Tannor is staying in Auburn overnight to spend extra time with Auburn commit Quindarious Monday and Tigers lean Michael Harris. Georgia has been the perceived favorite for a while, but Auburn snagging the final visit — an overnight one, at that — gives the Tigers much more hope than before the weekend.

Tannor said the battle between the Bulldogs and the Tigers is tight.

“Great facilities, great coaches. It’s a real good connection. It feels just like that at Georgia (too), and that’s what’s making that race so close. Great coaching. Both of them are providing the same things for me, so we’re just gonna have to see,” Tannor said. “I have one more day to decide, though. Sunday, we’re going to go to church, hopefully make the right decision. … Right now, I couldn’t even tell you.”

Auburn made sure Tannor knew his priority in the Tigers’ class.

Kevin Steele and Rodney Garner spent time with Tannor to show him his fit in the Tigers’ defense. At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Tannor said he’d most likely play the Buck position for Auburn. At Georgia, it would be more of an outside linebacker role, similar to Bulldogs linebacker Lorenzo Carter.

Tannor made this trip with his mother, two brothers and youngest sister. Both places are giving the family a commit-able feeling.

“That’s just how I feel. That’s home for me. If I choose Georgia, that’s home for me,” Tannor said.

Tannor said he plans to take visits to both schools this fall regardless of his Monday commitment. He won’t be an early enrollee.

No. 2 OG, family visit Auburn (Rivals)
quote:

Houston County (Ga.) Trey Hill, who is ranked the No. 2 guard in the 2018 class, visited Auburn on Thursday and brought along with him his parents and both siblings.

"I wanted them to see the facilities and everything and get a feel for it," Hill said.

According to Hill, his family liked what they saw and felt.

"They got a good vibe from it," Hill said. "They liked it and they liked the atmosphere."

Hill and family met extensively with Herb Hand and Gus Malzahn. The Rivals100 recruit has developed strong bonds with Auburn's coaches.

"(Malzahn) told me that I'm a top priority," Hill said. "And me and Coach Hand have a really good relationship. We've been talking for about two years now. We talked a lot today about ball, about X's and O's."

Hill doesn't list any favorites, but said Auburn is very high on his list. He plans to return for at least one game in the fall, but is unsure at this time whether or not he'll take an official visit to Auburn (he's not sure of any visits at this time).

"Auburn is in it with me a lot," Hill said. "I like Auburn because it has a family feel. They have a great coaching staff that I think can get me to where I need to be. They have recruited me hard and never given up on me."

Hill will visit Clemson on Saturday. He plans to take his official visits in the fall before announcing a commitment in late December.

Hill would like to see how some colleges fare in the fall before making a decision in the winter.

"Wins and losses will matter to me in some aspect," Hill said. "You want to go to a winning team."

Auburn offers former UF commit (Rivals)
quote:

AUBURN | Lowndes (Valdosta, Ga.) offensive tackle Jalen Goss has an offer from Auburn.

Goss, a former Florida commitment, earned the offer after an impressive performance at Auburn’s half-day camp on Friday.

“I was surprised, real happy,” Goss said. “Auburn is a school I like.”

Goss, who is 6-foot-6 and 252 pounds, worked with Auburn offensive line coach Herb Hand during the camp. Hand and Gus Malzahn informed Goss of the offer.

“Coach Hand is a nice guy, a good coach and I like his enthusiasm,” Goss said. “He talked about me putting on weight, that he’d like me to get here and get up to 295.”

Goss is considering the offer. He’s currently considering Auburn, Oregon and Mississippi State, among others, but does not list a leader.

Goss will return to Auburn before making a commitment.

“I’ll be back for a game in the fall,” Goss said.

Goss doesn’t plan to make another commitment anytime soon. He intends to take his official visits and make an informed decision in late fall.

“Probably at the end of the football season,” Goss said.

Auburn offers 4-star DE (Rivals)
quote:

AUBURN | Kayode Oladele added another offer to his list on Friday.

Oladele, a four-star defensive end from Hialeah, Fla., earned an offer from Auburn after a standout performance at the Tigers’ half-day camp.

“It feels great,” Oladele said. “I’m really happy about it, really grateful for it. Auburn is one of the schools I wanted an offer from and I am blessed to now have it.”

Oladele has many reasons for his excitement in earning the offer.

“Auburn is a good community,” Oladele said. “And Auburn is a good school for education and a good school for football. I really like it at Auburn.”

Oladele added Auburn to his offer list that already included Florida, Florida State, Miami, Oregon, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Tennessee, among others. His performance Friday at Auburn’s camp impressed defensive line coach Rodney Garner.

“He likes me at defensive end,” Oladele said of Garner. “He’s a great coach. I really enjoyed working with him and he was impressed with what I did.”

Oladele likely will return to Auburn in the fall. He’s already considering the Tigers for one of his five official visits.

“Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, FSU, Miami and Oregon are some of the schools I’m looking at right now,” Oladele said. “And I’ll probably be back to Auburn for an official visit. Auburn is a top choice for me.”

Oladele, who is 6-foot-5 and weighs 235 pounds, plans to take all five of his official visits before making a commitment.

Commitment coming Monday for 4-star linebacker (Rivals)
quote:

AUBURN | Caleb Tannor will make his commitment on Monday.

The four-star outside linebacker will announce his decision on Twitter, and it will be to either Auburn or Georgia.

“I’m very, very close,” Tannor said.

Tannor, who is from Miller Grove in Lithonia, Ga., made his announcement plans while visiting Auburn on Saturday. He was one of approximately 20 recruits on the Tigers’ campus for the annual cookout. Tannor brought his mother and two brothers along with him Saturday in Auburn.

“It was a good visit, a good time for me to finalize my decision,” Tannor said. “To be honest, I don’t know, yet, but I have one more day to decide.”

Tannor will spend Sunday mulling over his two final options.

“Auburn has great facilities, great coaches,” Tannor said. “I have a really good connection. It’s the same with Georgia. That’s why it’s a neck-and-neck race.”

Tannor projects to play the Buck position at Auburn and the outside linebacker spot at Georgia. His commitment on Monday won’t necessarily end his recruitment.

“I will still be taking visits,” Tannor said.

Tannor, who is 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds, is ranked by Rivals as the No. 21 outside linebacker in the 2018 class and No. 30 overall player in Georgia.

Tannor has not set a time for his announcement on Monday.

Auburn 'feels like family' to Tuscaloosa WR (Rivals)
quote:

AUBURN | Seth Williams has been on two recruiting visits this summer — both to Auburn.

The four-star wide receiver from Paul Bryant High School in Cottondale, Ala., attended the Tigers’ cookout Saturday with his parents.

“The coaches, they are real and they’re not going to hide anything from you,” said Williams of what stood out most about Auburn. “It’s more like family. Every time I come down here it feels like it’s family. I just can’t get past that.”

Williams, 6-foot-2 and 202 pounds, said that family feeling will play a big part in his recruitment.

“It’s going to be real important because I don’t want to go anywhere that I’m not going to feel comfortable,” Williams said. “I just want to feel like I’m supposed to be there, like I’m at home.”

It might seem unlikely that a highly-recruited receiver in Alabama’s backyard could end up at Auburn, but Williams is very open to that possibility.

“It’s not hard. It’s whatever school that fits you,” he said. “If you’re Tuscaloosa born and you want to go to Tuscaloosa and you stay in Tuscaloosa, you stay in Tuscaloosa. But nothing in Tuscaloosa is going to make you stay in Tuscaloosa.”

Williams’ parents have also given Auburn a positive review.

“They love it too,” Williams said. “They love wherever I feel comfortable.”

Williams’ offer list includes Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. He doesn’t currently list any favorites or have a timetable for a decision.

Williams did name three schools that are recruiting him the hardest.

“Auburn, Ole Miss and Alabama,” he said.

Williams also attended Auburn’s Big Cat recruiting event in June.
