Fields still claims he is a 100% committed but admits that he is still listening to all the SEC schools coming after him. Apparently he talks with Chip Lindsey every day. The two know each other from when Lindsey was recruiting him back at Arizona State and sounds like they have clicked pretty well. Mentions he's interested in seeing Mazlahn & Lindsey's offense this year because we had no passing attack last year. Also admits he grew up an Auburn fan and that a big part of that was Cam Newton. Now he plays on Cam Newton's 7v7 team (same one Quindarious Monday is on) though says Cam isn't pushing AU on him. Apparently Gus told Field to ask Cam about him
. LSU, Florida and Auburn are apparently the teams coming after him the hardest but FWIW I have read in other places him mentioning Bama and UGA as well. The Gator staff is selling him hard on being their missing piece and had four coaches text him the other day. KN says if AU wants to flip em we have to beat out Penn State and UF. No visits plan just yet but wants to have a final decision before his senior year Some encouraging stuff in there but I won't start feeling optimistic until he visits. If we can get him here for BCW then I might start liking out chances. It's clear though that this is the guy Fields wants. We have offered only one QB since planning to take 2 and Fields is the guy. We will see what happens but sounds like there are some things that could go in our favor

Peterson, country's No. 1 OLB, 'not going to fail' (247)
Ok he can't be saying "family atmosphere" and picking Bama now that's not how this works

“They all had talent … and they didn’t make it,’ he said. “To me, I’ve got to make it. I tell myself, I’m not going to fail.”
Peterson, the No. 1 outside linebacker in the 247Sports Composite, is the No. 35 overall recruit in the industry generated 247Sports Composite. He’s a top Auburn target and currently lists the Tigers No. 2 behind his leader, Alabama.
In the past year, Peterson has faced life-altering challenges, including the birth of his daughter and the death of his grand-father. He lost his dad to Lupus when he was a child.
“I try to keep the grind going,” Peterson said.
At Auburn, he has found a father-like figure of sorts in linebackers coach Travis Williams, the college coach he said he is closer with more than any.
“That’s my man,” Peterson said. “He came up like I did.”
Williams’ message to Peterson?
“His message is, he wants me to come see it, chill, get a feel for it,” Peterson said. “He ain't telling me like Georgia, telling me to commit, stuff like that. I don’t like that. At all.”
According to Peterson, he plans to visit Alabama, Auburn and FSU after school gets out. Possibly Oregon, too. We’ve since confirmed the Tigers expect to have him at Big Cat Weekend on June 3.
What stands out with the Tide?
“I just like the family atmosphere and all the players,” Peterson said. “I get along with them real good. Some of them have backgrounds like me.”

KN also has update on 4* Joey Gatewood, everyone's favorite QB prospect
Rhett Lashlee was something like a father figure to Gatewood and even tho Lindsey is different than Lashlee, Gatewood could see him being the same thing. He was a bit "blindsided" at first when Lindsey told him they were going to recruit a 2nd QB but after the transfers he admits that we have to find another QB. Gatewood apparently is now cool with it and seems pretty solid. Plenty of schools like Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss and Oregon are still after him and apparently Ohio State has opened up communications. Told him they have 5* Emory Jones committed but if anything were to happen they wanted to stay in touch. Of those Gatewood said the school he's most intrigued by is Alabama because their history. Apparently Bama coaches have told him his offer is legit and they like his fit, so sounds like he plans on camping there this summer. Lindsey is aware of him talking with other schools but seems fine with it and comfortable with Gatewood sticking. Gatewood mentions that Lindsey's offense reminds him a bunch of what he runs now at his high school
KN seems to think Gatewood is about as solid as it gets but I will admit a bit nervous he is so interested in Bama. I am a bit surprised they would take him a QB target but I am guessing since they have two guys basically ready to play now they can give Gatewood time to develop. I know there are very mixed feelings on here about him but if Bama, Ohio State & UGA are all after him that tends to show that plenty think he has tremendous upside. Will be interesting to see what happens after his Bama visit this summer
Another note, KN says that AU did visit Emory Jones over the break as well. Everyone seems to think he's pretty solid to Ohio State but sounds like we might also be trying to make a run at him as well. Either Field or Jones would be a great pickup but personally I think Jones is a bit overrated. I want Fields if we can get him

3* DE Caleb Tannor released a top 5 last night of LSU, Tennessee, Auburn, UGA & UF. He was wearing UGA gloves at his spring game but not sure he's a take for them right now. Visited AU 3 straight weekends a month or so ago

Bama 247 thinks Bama gets Ross, Williams, Martin, Miller and Mason. Almost picked Armour-Davis as well. Only guy thinks we get out right is Fox

They're not going to get Ross. Apparently he has told people that how us, clemson and Bama do in the passing game this year will play a huge role in his decision, but he's most comfortable at Auburn

I just hope we at least get Fox, Armour-Davis, and Ross. Miller or Martin would be gravy. I don't think we have much chance at the other two unless bama decides they don't want them.

I think that's a realistic expectation. Would be pissed if we missed on Armour-Davis. Really like his potential
I can live with losing out on Martin if we get Teague

Will never say never about an instate recruit with Bama. I am hopeful that our passing O looks better than both Clemson and Bama in 2017 but need to see it happen before I get too confident. There's some that think Ross gave them a silent commit at spring game. Not that a silent this early means much but I definitely think it's far from a slam dunk
