He "looks" like it because he is 6'8, pushing 300, and has really long arms. He sucks right now for all i know.

Some notes on our big recruiting weekend this week along with KN's thoughts on how Les's firing impacts recruiting

- 4* LB KJ Britt & 3* LB Monty Rice were both here this past weekend on visit & both stayed the night. We have 2 spots open for 4 guys: 4* Will Ignont, 4* Tyler Taylor, 4* KJ Britt & 3* Monty Rice. As of now KN thinks it's first come, first server for those final 2 spots with it being any of those 4

- KN says 4* ATH Alaric Williams claims he is still solid to AU. Apparently he was not expecting the red carpet treatment Nebraska gave him last weekend. Also any reports of us asking him to play defense are apparently false, we are recruiting him as an offensive athlete

- 2 surprise visitors made the trip. 4* DE Markaviest Bryant & 4* WR Stephen Guidry. We are fighting uphill battle for Bryant but winning really helps with him. As of now UGA looks like the most likely landing spot but this should be a fight to the finish. As for Guidry we are battling Craig for him. The LSU coaching shakeup could really help us here if DC is not retained

- Looks like 4* JUCO OG Jordan Agasiva is our top OL target left on the board. He named AU his leader after the game. 45 minutes before the game Malzahn came up to him & told whomever he was with that "we really need this guy"

- Some bad news in that 4* S Devon Hunter could not make the trip neither did 4* WR Brandon Martin. AU still feels good about Martin but we have some work to do on Hunter & need to get him back on campus

- We have made a big push for 4* S CJ Avery. As of now it looks like an AU/MSST battle. Apparently the game atmosphere blew him away & he spent all Sunday touring the campus

As for the LSU coaching shakeup, here's what KN says

- 4* DE Isaiah Buggs is real close with Ed Oregeron. Him staying on as interim head coach helps LSU but if he were let go by new staff that will be big for AU

- 4* QB Lowell Narcisse is a wait & see on the type of system the new coach brings in. Don't be shocked if he visits again says KN but as of now Stidham appears to be our top target

- 5* ATH JaCoby Stevens liked AU more than people realized however KN thinks Alabama is probably the team to watch out for

- 4* WR Jhamon Ausbon was at one point an AU lean till Craig got his hands on him. Right now though A&M is probably the major threat to flip as he is a native Texan & good friends with Kellen Mond

- 4* WR Stephen Guidry is another guy that really likes Craig. If DC is not retained AU has a chance to make a run at him

- 3* DT Neil Farrell is shockingly ANOTHER DC recruit but as of now AU hasn't really recruited him that hard so doubt we become a factor on this one

- 4* WR Brandon Martin has long been an AU lean but a lot of that is because LSU has not pushed hard. If the new staff likes him that could be bad news for AU

So bottom line is if Orgeron & Craig leave AU has a shot at getting back in it with some of these guys. Personally I think Buggs is gonna end up at AU at this time but who knows what happens once LSU makes a hire. Now is the time though to pounce on some of these guys like Guidry & Stevens

What about that JUCO OT Hayes? How hard are we after him? Could he come in and start next year?

Sounds like we are holding off on him for now. No idea if he is good enough to help out immediately or not. It appears Agasiva is the guy we want right now. Guessing they are happy enough with Ashley & Troxell along with what is already on campus

awesome. Gatewood was 0-2 passing and Carlson is now 5 for 12 on field goals. Recruiting is trending up!

KK - You really think Prince will be ready to take over a tackle spot next year? I realize we don't have that many options, but with the coaches looking for a JUCO Tackle it makes me think he's still a year away. I am crazy excited for Princes future, the guy just looks like a All-American LT.

My opinion is yes, he will. He's an incredibly smart young man so I think he'll pick up the offense just fine. That being said the coaches would be crazy not to look for some JUCO help at tackle to hedge their bets.

I don't see why both Prince's, Tega and Sammons, don't wind up playing OT for us.

Sammons is a near clone of Tega. Both are in the 6'-07"-6'-08" 300lb range, and both have athletic ability that supercedes their frame.

WarDamnEagleWDE on AUFamily is pretty adamant in claiming that the Hayes kid sucks and isn't anywhere near SEC ready. Panic move by Gus if he's pushing for that kid, supposedly.

If JB Grimes was still here, they probably would be All American OTs next year.

I just don't see Herbie Handgrenade coaching these guys up given his track record and just how raw these guys were coming in

The funny thing is that one of the guys that everyone seems to universally accept as an OL guru, Lecharles Bentley, seems to think that Herb Hand is a brilliant OL coach and knows his stuff.

Yeah, I think people are overreacting as usual to the Hand stats posted a while back. He had to coach at a sanctioned penn state, and vandy. I'm more than willing to give him some time.

can we blame grimes for having leff and golson as the only available OTs on this team or is that hand's fault now?

no tackles taken in 2013
no tackles taken in 2014
tega is the only one playing tackle from the 2015 class and he's been playing football for a total of 3/4 years

oh, and the 5* bust from UT who can't beat out either golson or leff

so, thanks jb for leaving the cupboard full

eta: wonder which coach decided to cool down on recruiting jonah williams

I was just making a comment about Tega/Sammons potential at OT given which coach we have not about recruiting.

You can't fault our recruiting numbers for OT. We had

quote:

no tackles taken in 2013

Short class and not even close to an immediate need.
# of OTs with remaining eligibility in projected years

2013- 5 (GRob, Young, Miller, Coleman, Leff)
2014- 5 (Grob, Young, Miller, COleman, Leff)
2015- 5 (Grob, Young, Miller, Coleman, Leff)
2016- 3 (Young, Coleman, Leff)

quote:

no tackles taken in 2014

Bringing in Austin Golson and Darius James

2014- 4 (Coleman, Young, Miller, Leff) transfer (James/Golson)
2015- 6 (Coleman, Young, Miller, Leff, Golson, James)
2016- 4 (Young, Leff, Golson, James)
2017- 2 (Golson, James)

quote:

tega is the only one playing tackle from the 2015 class

Bailey Sharp is playing OT just isn't good
Mike Horton was backup RT last year and probably would play RT/LT before Tega who is the "official" backup

OT is always an immediate need. not to take one every year is absolutely absurd. you can try arguing with it all you want, but that's the reason robert leff is starting at RT right now and our 2015 center is now at LT.

and lol at you of all people listing leff in your list of OTs when you've done nothing but trash him all year. we are talking about actual quality players, not bodies taking up space on the roster.

Bringing in Austin Golson
as a center. he certainly isn't a LT

neat, i guess he fits in with every other tackle on the team left over from grimes tenure

tega was at rt against asu

I agree normally you take one every year but 13 was a short year and 14 we had both a logjam and Golson transferring in. Even without Leff, we had 3-4 OTs with quality SEC starting experience projected for at least 3 years.

How many recruits want to walk into that situation with slim to none chances of playing for years

quote:

as a center. he certainly isn't a LT

Brought in originally to play RT not OC. Still OT

quote:

Darius James
who can't beat out leff

Oh so we can just subtract highly ranked busts from recruiting numbers? Looks like DC didn't recruit a WR for 3 years.

When they were deciding how many OTs to snag, he definitely was considered.

quote:

neat, i guess he fits in with every other tackle on the team left over from grimes tenure

Grimes isn't an elite recruiter. I'll give you that. It isn't Grimes' fault that 2 OTs declared early

Grimes was recruiting JUCO OTs to mitigate that issue. Is it his fault that GUs/Hand didn't follow up on that?

quote:

tega was at rt against asu

So you think if Robert Leff sat out vs MissSt, our go to option would be Tega instead of Horton?
