There has also been talk that Lindsey prefers TE use to HB/FB use.

From watching some Arizona State & Southern Miss games this seems true. Could take this as good news that LIndsey does in fact have a pretty big say in direction of offense

Great move by the staff. No need to take a FB when you can get a walk on to do that.

This new 2* TE kid can play special teams, FB, TE, Hback.

Solid move by staff IMHO

not a good fit" = off-field stuff.

That's BS.

Also I really hope that we're not bitten in the arse later on passing on a FB. There's no develop at that position in the coming years.

How is that BS? These kids often come on recruiting trips and act like jackasses. Not all these guys are "good kids". There is no reason to make these claims up about a 3-star recruit who is 100% in our hands if we want him (which we apparently don't anymore). Its come from several different outlets.

Because it's BS. Michigan didn't discover any off the field issues that Auburn suddenly did. We were all about until our new OC arrived.

I'm really beginning to question what's going on behind the scenes at the TE/HB/FB position. If I understand correctly we invited the 3rd ranked FB in the nation for an OV to tell him we don't want him, then offer a FB to walk-on, and offer a no-name TE a scholarship? I may be off but this seems to be what has transpired over the last 24 hours.

Different coaches have different tolerance levels for behavior. The fact that Michigan may not have had a problem with him means nothing. The Cincinnati Bengals were known for not giving a shite about problem-guys for years in the NFL; and its not because they "couldn't find anything"...its because they didn't care, whereas most other NFL teams did.

Look, there has been talk that Lindsey wants to move more towards TE use as opposed to FB/HB use. But if that were the only reason why we're moving away from Lasiter, then why not just say that outright? I don't buy that numerous writers/"insiders" are terrible enough people that they need to make shite up about a recruit's behavior when they could flat out just say: "Lindsey wants more TE's, therefore he doesn't want Lasiter". This is a 3-star FB; there is no need to spin some BS story to explain why we don't want him.

Again it stands that we passed in the 3rd rated FB after sending two coaches to his house and now we're walking on a FB and getting a low ranked TE.

It would be concerning if we hadn't just hired a new OC. My guess is Lindsey vetoed Lasater not because of any off field stuff but because he wants more of a receiving threat from that spot. Just my guess

My guess too is that Lindsay is going to involve a TE more. Just never thought I'd see Runningback-U not scholarship a FB.

We just offered the #94th ranked Tight End. John Samuel Shenker

I get we're transitioning on offense. Chip likes TEs that HB some but catch the ball. Not sure why we can't operate an offense with a pass catching TE and a hard nosed FB for runs, plenty of teams do it but, k.

Maybe this guy is the next Kevin Hogan but damn, 94th? Chip, you're not at troy or southern miss anymore it's okay to aim up a little, at least top 50.

I've pulled mine out of my arse and they're adjusted properly back on my asscheeks. Chip obviously scouted this TE and FB walk on. Ok. Just would be nice if we had some inside knowledge of what the frick is actually going on like Bama shitbags do when you go from a beast FB to a 94th ranked TE. These tea leaves are more like piss leaves since JJ flopped at QB.

This TE plays for Rush Propst. Not hard to see the connection to Lindsey.

Knowing that, no its not. And I'm guessing at this point in the cycle we can't walk into some top ranked players house we've never talked to and say hey! come play for AU. Reserving judgement on Chips recruiting to next offensive class.

Edit: Not knowing how this class finishes, we need to have a good WR and DL class next year. I know the coaches are saying 'aw but 2018 looks great' but we can't swing and miss again.

I love it. Emilimate the FB means eliminating the Twirlybird.

Plenty of teams run the ball without a fullback. Even the dumbest of commentators, Jordan Rodgers, knows this simple fact about the Gus Malzahn offense "follow the fullback to the ball carrier." Getting rid of the FB means eliminating an easy key for the defense. Time to progress on offense.

And the 3rd ranked FB in the nation plays/recruited by a pipeline private school in Florida where nearly every player is guaranteed a D1 scholarship. I think Trinity HS just won their 3rd championship in 5 years.

Hope it's a great pull. I am numb to the amount of 3*s in our signing class this year. Taking an outlier two or three star here or there is never bad but taking a bunch puts a lot of stress on the development skills of the coaches. Also, makes the roster more vulnerable if the coaches are canned and the next coaches don't care to work with them.

Also, I believe recruiting more tight ends means more pass plays. Don't believe we will be ranked above 100 in team rushing like Lindsey was at SMU( 2x) but I also doubt we will be leading the SEC in team rushing.
