White's performance against Memphis was really a downer. I know we read too much into one game performances, but Jesus he was awful.

Impossible. The AU board told me he was the savior, with his one TD pass for the year.

Why does the team have to carry him? You're treating him as a liability when he's an asset. He makes the team better not worse.

Short Version: In our offense, I don't believe Sean White is an asset that will win games despite our D/other deficiencies. Not just because he isn't a DT but his passing style.

Long Version

I like Sean Whiteand think he is a good QB. I just see him as an excellent fit for West Coast style or conservative Pro Style and not Gus Malzahn's offense. If Sean had elite level deep passes of 25+ or the arm strength to make reasonable 50+, I could see it.

Gus talks about winning by creating numbers advantages. In the run game, he pulls OL and uses the HBack as a lead blocker in space. One key element to create a numbers adv is our downfield passing game.

Gus' pass game tries to do what Carolina does with Tedd Ginn. Tedd Ginn basically runs a go route on every play. Due to his speed/Cam's arm defenses are vertically stretched and pretty much forced to commit at least 2 players deep. This opens up the inside run game, outside run game and short passing game. It is why Carolina WRs are always open despite all of them being old & washed up

I don't see Sean White consistently dropping dimes in coverage on 35+ yard passes enough to force defenses to stretch vertically. Marshall couldn't drop dimes consistently but because he threw a solid enough 60+yd pass, teams had to adjust to wide open fast receivers

ETA**: As much as I hate to say it because Tedd Ginn has worse hands than RiCardo, Carolina lost to Atlanta because Ginn was injured

It seems we didn't beat UT for Brown. UT stopped recruiting him....

Mr. Brown was involved in an incident at Josh Dobbs' birthday party this past weekend. Indications suggest UT's coaches quit recruiting him at that time.

Damn, it seems that money we paid him wasn't necessary.

247's Best Classes

Best defensive line class – Auburn
A close race for this award turned into a clear choice when Derrick Brown committed to Auburn on Wednesday. There's both elite talent and crazy depth on the Auburn commit list. Nick Coe is the forgotten man here. He may just end up being the best of the bunch.

Honorable Mention for WR class.

Props to the Volnation poster who actually has a sense of humor

quote:

I wish it was just one incident. If Mr. Brown had only had one incident this weekend then the Vols might have still accepted his commitment, but unfortunately there were multiple major incidents.

First mistake of the evening was Derrick showed up to the birthday party, but didn't bring a gift. Huge red flag immediately. Next, Derrick doesn't join the team in singing "Happy Birthday" song to Josh. By this time, eyebrows are being raised.

Brown then goes on to get a little too prematurely excited & blows out the candles on the birthday cake before Dobbs can even take a deep breath. The night really took a bad turn from there. I won't include all the details because some children read VN, but let's just say there is very strong evidence that Derrick cheated during a game of "pin the tail on the donkey" & pissed all over multiple toilet seats throughout the night. If that gives you any indication of what type of person he is.

There might have possibly still been hope for UT allowing Brown to sign with the Vols even after those incidents at the birthday party, but the final straw was reached on the car ride back home. Several players stopped at the Cook Out on Cumberland before heading home for the night. TIFWIW, but several current UT players were appalled at Brown's order.

Derrick only ordered an order of hush puppies & a Hi-C Punch milkshake. What kind of person does that? The "Cook Out Tray" is conventionally & financially the clear-cut order choice at this establishment & Derrick Brown blatantly ignored that. UT players spread this startling news to the Vols' coaching staff & Derrick Brown was packing his bags the next morning. There is no room for such inexcusable lack of character on UT's football team.

What are UT fans saying that inspired that?

My UT homer friend said that the incident was with Landon Dickerson, not Brown. They lost him to FSU. They (UT players) said he was a total douche at the party and the other players told Butch Jones to stop recruiting him.

Not sure. Everyone is of course being cryptic with their "inside information"

Also apparently Pat Dye executed a pay off to Brown via Brad Lester without his mom knowing. Sometimes I worry about our fanbase when reading boards like AUFamily & the Bunker but then I read something on Volnation or any UGA board and I feel a lot better

Honestly it's amazing how good they think we are, like CIA spy shite where we are doing dead drops and secret meetings. Pat Dye should have been an NSA analyst

Some interesting things in the behind the scenes article:

-Auburn felt like they would land Derrick Brown in November

-Coaching staff was tired of Marshall's antics. Called him on Sunday night before NSD and said they had to have an answer right then. Obviously he told them UGA was the pick. (Interested in the response from jrljr here)

-Apparently Woody Barrett wasn't pleased with the Frankling signing.

Keith hinted at the woody Barrett thing weeks ago. He don't mention the JF3 signing but said if we had of taken Davis Webb or someone like that it would have definitely had an impact on Woody.

I now this this story is fake because everyone knows Dobbs doesn't have any eyebrows to raise.

I don't think people understand how good Jovon Robinson is.

They will after a full off season. You could see the talent he has on several runs. I'm excited to watch what he does next season.

Alabama held Fournette to like 2YPC and other than a garbage time 80yd run, Chubb was at like 3-4 YPC all game

Jovon was averaging 5+ YPCwith no big runs to pad stats and without Alabama even pretending to respect the pass for most of the game

Sounds stupid. Everyone who analyzed Woody said he was a project and needs to learn the position.

Why would he feel threatened by a guy whose max stay at AU is 2 years? If anything, he should be happy because if he lost out to White FR yr, he isn't beating him out in Whites Junior or SR years as multi year starter

Woody will quickly learn once he steps on campus that he isn't ready to take over the QB spot and Franklin's 2 years won't have any impact on his opportunity

These recruits all think they can start day 1. Some analysts telling you that you won't when you're 18 years old isn't going to change your mind.
