This brings up the point that rarely do we start freshmen. Kerryon and Cowart were no brainers to get in the rotation. And yeah, I get it this is the SEC but I do think since 2009 we have unnecessarily coddled some players early on.

JMO, I could be wrong and haven't been at AU except gameday since 2010

Popeyes actually might have the best butter biscuits out of that selection.

Supposedly we are making a run at Illinois Grad transfer LB TJ Neal

Stats:
2015: 109 tackles, 14 TFL, 2 Sacks
2014: 98 tackles, 6.5 TFL

Illinois starting junior linebacker TJ Neal is looking to transfer for his senior season and the Mountaineers have made the list.

Neal finished his junior season as the second leading tackler for the Illini with 109 tackles. The 6’1 235 lb linebacker played in every game for the Illini over the last three seasons.

Neal tells BGS that he has been in contact with WVU defensive coordinator Tony Gibson and plans to visit the Mountaineers on February 9th. The prospect of immediate playing time is something that has put the Mountaineers atop his list of schools. Pitt, Penn State, and Auburn are also being considered by the talented linebacker.
Although just a junior, Neal has graduated from Illinois and would be available to play immediately for the 2016 season in what would be his final season of eligibility.

Would want

Gotta think we offer a better chance at playing time and to get to the NFL than WV. Plus, the atmosphere is infinitely better.

No one can say the defense won't be on the field a good bit this year. Hopefully not as much as last year but if we go 2013 offense, defense will be out there. Judging by stats only, he can stop the run. Interested to know how he is in pass coverage. One thing is certain, Steele can coach LBs. If our DL lives up to expectations, he will be able to hit the gaps hard.

Who else can say your first game is against last year's #2 primetime and your last regular season game will be against last year's #1 in Tuscaloosa primetime?

Amen to that. Should be an easy choice for him when he looks at our depth chart. Only thing that concerns me is that he has a baby so he may want to stay close to home

Sounds like coaching staff wants him as a MLB, so I am guessing they see Tre as the weakside backer next season. Neal has played a crap ton of ball and looks like a tackle machine. Would be a strong pickup for us and give those redshirt freshman time to develop without being counted on be THE guys next season

Per Bruce Feldman:

Grad transfer Tyler Catalina, a 6-6, 300-pound 2nd team All-CAA OL at #URI, announces he's going to play for #UGA.
