2012? For the life of me I just cannot remember us playing that year...

We were so bad in 2012. That team was horrid at every single position except for punter. Steven Clark alone kept us in the LSU game that year.
How's our punter recruiting going? Is it as abysmal as our DL recruiting?

I feel like joey and I are disagreeing about a very minor topic and probably agree on 99% of the issue that Jeff Grimes sucks as a coach
I just don't think any coach could reasonable have churned out a SEC average OL in 2011 withthe situation so I'm not going to trash Grimes for that. I absolutely will trash him for other years

Heard the JUCO punter we picked up as a walkon is the next Ray Guy. Well at least compared to what we had last year

I'm thinking Clayton is a must have for this class. I see major potential with that guy.

Heard his leg was an inch or so too short

So for DL recruits do they fall into following artificial buckets?
SDE- Marlon Davidson, Newkirk
DT- Jackson, Gary, Manning
Buck/Speed DE- Clayton

I legitimately do not remember a thing about that season. Hell, I didn't even remember we had played a&m until the announcers mentioned it the next year.

Crazy thing is that other than Gary, we seem to be clearcut favorites for all those guys.

Long way from National Signing Day. A lot can happen.
Do these comments work both ways? I only hear them when it's used to pull someone back from a cliff.

and although we're not the clear favorite for him, those close to his recruitment obviously seem to think we're the favorite as of today. Not a bad position.

not recruiting related but this is the most popular thread so....here's a post from someone who sat in on a defensive meeting recently:
The coaches expect A LOT from Carl Lawson and Tray Mathews this year. As of now, Lawson will start fall camp playing the Buck position. Depending on how Cowart comes along, I expect they end up both being on the field. One as the Buck, and the other as the end.
It looks like our base defense will be a 3-4.
There are 6 basic coverage schemes. Expect to see VERY little cover 2. Two different versions of the cover 3 seem to be the go to, with cover 1 right behind it.
Corners are being coached and prepped for very aggressive play. It was said multiple times that "this 7+ yard cushion shite is done!"
Mentioned our offenses' "sniffer" (Chandler Cox) as one that will be special.
When we play teams that run the zone read, Tray Mathews (or whoever is playing his position) will be the most important player on the field.
Quote of the day: "Let me tell you a secret about fat people. Fat people will get you beat."

Per JLee AU is ready to take 3* DE Micheal Boykin. The commit could come at any time and as late as the next time Boykin visits AU which will be soon.
