I mean it doesn't matter if they are "paid for" because if it was not typical, that team would have such an absurd advantage they would never lose a recruit.

So either everyone does it no one does it. If a team is better at it than others, blame the coaches/donors for falling behind
That was my point

Remember when the "we're missing on all our position of need targets" meltdown was DBs a few years ago?

We have since filled that out with Tray Matthews and Blake Countess.

Just a random thought amid the doom and gloom, I dunno

Auburn recruiting is a last minute grab every year. We are not a state school and are competing with Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas AM and Florida for the top recruits.

You're free to do what you want obviously but I find this trend funny. It happens just about every time.
Except you are misleading a good bit by putting words in there that were not said. For example. Nobody even remotely said Julian had a bad attitude. All some of us said was he plays soft a bit. We also said if he develops a motor he would be a beast. I was one & I'd stick by that even if he chose AU.

No it doesn't. You just see it from some guys trollin or from a couple of guys who have their heads up their asses and apparent perceive that being more common than it actually is. The reality is every fan base has guys that idiotically go through that spectrum you mentioned and that's not changing anytime soon. Is it stupid? Yes but it's not common place. It's definitely a minority. It sticks out to you undserstandably so, because it annoys you. That's normal.

You'll have to explain it then cuz I don't see it.

In the end I see some of y'alls point. The whys don't matter. All that matters is we lost no matter the reason. W/ That said I only expressed what I did because somebody a page or so back asked why we lost w/ a big lead. I've learned my lesson on this. I will never post something along the lines of something strange happened ever again because I don't want to deal w/ this stupid, pointless bitchfest we are having.

If you're counting on cast-offs from other schools to save us every single year, you're going to have a bad time. The problem with those guys is that they are short-term fixes. I'm not liking the reliance on JUCOs and dudes kicked off other programs that we're starting to focus on.

I understand what you are saying but still short term fixes are better than guys who would never play or be productive if they did because their skills don't fit the system. You can play to player's strengths on offense but nowhere near as much on D.

With all the moves made I get the feeling the staff sees this as the year to go all in for a title run given the schedule, offense, & possible talent on the front 7.

We had a roster of crap when Gus arrived. You do what you have to, especially not being an U of state school. We take guys who make us better. I for one enjoy beating schools with their "cast-offs".

(Not to meta)
Nobody was actually accusing uga of buying anyone. (E said 'bought', but anyone who has been around here long knew what he meant.)

Pass notes & quotes from AUC LINK

-will commit July 13th
-Bama, Va. Tech, AU, Louisville, UF, UNC are finalists & even
-will be @ BCW til 1 or 2 then go to Louisville to help his bro move in
-will visit Bama June 8-10
- Will visit the other 5 finalists including a 2nd trip to AU between June 11-July 5, no dates set
quote:

Alabama: "They run a pro-style offense with open formations. They have a good offensive line and good players around them."

Auburn: "They have a good offensive line and a good defense. They have good athletes and it's right down the road."

Louisville: "My brother is going there. They run an open offense. I like coach (Bobby) Petrino's scheme. They have good wide receivers. They run a pro-style offense with quick offensive tackles."

Florida: "They are going to run the same offense they ran at Alabama. I've been talking with coach (Jim) McElwain. He's a good guy."

North Carolina: "Coach (Larry) Fedora is a class act. They make me feel at home. They have a real good offensive line coach (Chris Kapilovic). They have some good running backs and a new defensive coordinator (Gene Chizik). They have a good campus life and my teammate Javontay Smith is going there."

Virginia Tech: "The coaches said I can go there and play early. (Hokies quarterbacks) coach (Scot Loeffler) can develop me to play on the next level."

1. The bolded Va. Tech quote might be the funniest thing a recruit has ever said. 2. The reasons he gave for AU aren't reasons alone I would pick a school. I would have to like the offense too andhave great relationships w/ the coaches. 3. Sounds like Bama is standing out because he references them a couple times while talking about other teams & apparently wants to play in a pro-open style O.
