I don't drink watered down whiskey. Makers straight, or if I'm feeling fancy I'll step it up to Woodford.

While logic dictates that's how they should be ranked, it's not. The rankings are based on pro projected draftability and none of the sites make no bones about it.

Ellitor, I know that they often state that this is the case, but it really isn't as cut and dry as you make it out to be. Want an example? The sites have no problem rating Kyler Murray extremely highly despite the fact that he is a ~5'10" QB. His "Pro Draftability" at that height is not very significant at all, so they are in this case clearly rating him based off of his actual skills and accomplishments. No one in the NFL looks for a 5'10" QB.

ETA: nevermind. I just saw Meta made that post and he knows his shite. I still think Murray being touted the next Johnny Football for 2 whole years and Johnny drafted in the first round had a big part with his 5* rating but I will leave it at that.

Manziel is a full 2 inches taller than Murray; don't try and tell me that they are the "same" as some sort of rationale for his ranking. His ranking is what it is because he has been dominating the highest level of competition for years and his tape/skill-set is elite, not because someone saw Manziel go in the first round. Rivals ranked McCalebb as a 6.0 4-star out of Prep School and he was like ~150 pounds coming into Auburn. You think his "Pro Draftability" merited that high of a ranking as a twig running-back? All those 150-160 pound RBs running around in the NFL? No chance.

These guys aren't NFL scouts or talent evaluators. While they do try to align their rankings with perceived "Pro potential", you have to realize that a lot of the time they are just trying to make their own best guess. Hence why I said that it isn't as set in stone as you make it out to be, because it isn't.

Not trying to rationalize anything. That is honestly what I believe in Marray's case. And I have not said a word about them being the same. All I did was point out that every recruiting analyst regardless of the company touted him the next Johnny Football for 2 years. That's them saying they're the same not me. Maybe the kid has earned that monocur at the HS level. I don't know. In history though it's branding like that which usually over inflated the skill set or ability of the next whatever. Hell maybe I'm so skeptical to the next whatever not being close to the original that it automatically makes me think the next whatever is rated to high. Anyway you are probably right and if you are then it should not be college potential for only some recruits but not the whole. Back to Chandler Cox not even you, as much as I respect your analysis, can convince me, CC does not have solid 4* potential for any team that uses a FB or HB.

I've always thought that they do rankings off "What will look best in 5 years?" So they can justify guys with NFL 1st rd potential who are raw while also getting guys like Murray who may be college only studs. They just want to believe they can point to "He got drafted" or "He wasn't drafted but made All Conference twice"

That's always been how I saw it and when you read their thoughts in rankings in the past that's how they evaluate them too

My preference would be a sentence or two, but I am just happy with the updates! Anything else is gravy.

Thanks for all the work!

Do we take Chidi and Ivey?

I hope so.

I'm having a hard time getting excited about Dinson or a 2nd back up plan WR.

I know we need DBs and WRs but these guys are not going to play next year anyway. I'd rather get all the best players we can get this year and really hammer it home next year with WRs (Craig, Stove), DTs (Rochester, Jackson, Marshall?), CBs (Broussard) that can come in and play as true freshman if necessary.

Any team who needs/expects more than one FR to come in and contribute outside of garbage time is in trouble. Especially OL/DB.

Can't remember who was questioning my reason for not saying much about Preston Williams, it is pretty common knowledge that he likes to smoke. No, I didn't see any need to out him prior to this incident, as his attending AU was unlikely. He was asked to leave a Clemson camp as a JR as well. Always heard he was a nice enough kid, just continues to make terrible choices.

Just got an Email from mine and E's buddy.

Unless something crazy happens, staff believes we land C. Davis/Dinson.

If we are going to play true freshman at CB and ST, then we will be screwed on defense.
