Really? My kids don't have a choice.
I live in GA, but if my kid gets a full ride offer to bother schools, Bama will not be in contention. I promise.

My boy played HS football. He was a good player, not a great player.
But I always got silly questions like "what if he's good enough that one day he gets an offer from Bama? what then?"
My response was always "if he's good enough to get an offer from Bama, he's good enough to get offers from a lot of other great schools, and I raised him right so I have nothing to worry about."

I went to Bama. It's a struggle with my friends since I'm the only Auburn fan but that's how I was raised and part of who I am. It's quite different if you're a player though.

Here's a hypothetical for you guys? Would if your son or daughter knew going into college that they wanted to be a lawyer? Would you let them go to Bama then?

My child would be smart enough to get into a better law school. If not, Cumberland and Samford it is.

If my kid wanted to go to law school or business school, then Bama would be an option. Make a good decision on which school is best and then cheer for that school.

Your undergrad school doens't have a huge effect on law school admissions. Especially since Poli Sci/PreLaw majors have one of hte lowest average LSAT scores of any majors.
Going to Alabama Law doesn't make you an Alabama fan. A good bit of Auburn's General Counsel comes from Alabama Law. I'm almost positive the Cam Newton defense team had a good number of Alabama law grads on it too

quote:The topic was not about going to Bama turning kids to Bama fans. I know a few AU fans who went to Bama but remained AU fans. The topic was about the parents on this board or future parents letting their kids go to Bama for Law schoo since a number of posters on here said they would not let their kid go to Bama.

The point of my hypothetical was would you let your child go to Bama if they have a program miles ahead of AU's if that even exists outside the law program? I know for a long time Bama's journalism program was miles ahead of AU. I'm not sure that's still the case with the recent effort AU has put into that program.

No there are tons of other colleges with equal or better journalism and law programs.

Only if you plan on living in state. Their prestige dwindles fast the farther out of the deep south you go. They give solid financial aid though compared to many other similarly ranked schools
If my child planned to live in state or had a clear financial benefit I'd be fine with Bama law but otherwise I would push other schools but mostly due to the above issue. I have no issue with them going to Bama law.

Law School Board please.

quote:Not entirely true. The school's reputation is solid throughout the country. Just like almost all law schools, except the top 14, the prestige is greater the closer you get in proximity to the school.

FWIW FSU 247 reporter believes AU is tied for 2nd with FSU behind Mizzou & ahead of LSU plus tOSU for 5* DE/DT Terry Beckner. If true that's not a bad spot to be in going down the stretch given AU got involved fairly late.

Wow, you really tested my ability to keep up with that first sentence!

Why are y'all talking about UA's law school in our recruiting thread?
