Grimes says Braden Smith is going to play early. Said he could be like Grob 2 years and done. 6'6 305 benching 625
Part of that is misleading. This is what was actually said.
quote:

True freshman offensive lineman Braden Smith will get an early opportunity to show he’s ready to play when Auburn opens preseason camp in early August.
Offensive line coach J.B. Grimes says Smith, from Olathe, Kan., is no normal freshman. He stands 6-foot-6, weighs 305 pounds and bench presses more than 600 pounds.
“We have to find out very quickly about Braden,” Grimes said. I think that kid has the ability to play. I’ve watched the way he runs and bends and how strong he is. We have to figure out whether he’s going to play or not.
The first question for Grimes to answer will be if Smith is ready to play at a high level. The next question for Grimes to answer will be if Smith will play enough to make it worthwhile.
“I don’t think you run him out there for 10 snaps and blow a redshirt season, but on the other hand, he may be like Greg Robinson. He might be one of those guys that, if you redshirt him, he plays two seasons and he’s done anyway. That remains to be seen.”
Robinson, an All-America left tackle season, was chosen by the St. Louis Rams with the second pick in the NFL draft.

Obviously what he meant.... Smith will redshirt.

Not sure how grimes knows all that though... he hasn't even put on pads yet... and there are tons of workout freaks in this world who aren't nfl 1st rounders

What I saying is that may be embellished a bit

Eta: just read the actual article above... def misleading.

Sorry I get all my info from twitter. It's not always the best source or accurate news but it kills the time while at work

And helps me a lot. I only have to do mild adjustments if any.

Yep, Braden could be another Bonomolo you can't tell until they put pads on.

James Crepea @JamesCrepea
RT @McMurphyESPN: Bret Bielema told me 10-second proposal initially was 14 seconds but he told rules committee no one will go for that

I'm not worried about the rule ever passing. There are way more people against it than for it and the ones for it have nothing to back any claims. All that came out of it last time was Saban and Bielema looking like over the hill whiners, wanting rules changes cause they lost.

Bielema will be out of the SEC in a few years and the discussion will die

FIFY.

Also if my prediction above is right I would not be surprised if Arky makes a big move for Coach Lashlee.

I don't think they would fire him, even if he goes 3-9 again. The fans are so sold on him it would take a couple more bad years for them to start complaining.

Possible interesting development LINK
quote:

Mesquite (Texas) Poteet athlete DeAndre McNeal says Auburn offered him on Tuesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-2, 228-pound three-star prospect plays mostly wide receiver and running back for his schools but programs are either recruiting him as an H-back or a linebacker.

McNeal has offers from all over the country but his Crystal Ball is currently 46-percent to Alabama and 38-percent to Ohio State after recently camping at both places.
He has 19 Power 5 conference offers which is a lot for a mid 3* recruit.

I have him going 2-10 losing all con games plus 2 noncon games @ Texas Tech and Northern Illinois.

Not really. They're behind him because he's their coach. Malzahn has a large following there.

I hope this is "in addition to" Holland, McBryde and Williams. Not a backup plan for one of them...
