Forfeiting would mean that Oklahoma was credited the win. Isn't vacating the victory by USC the same as saying the result is treated the same as a game that did not happen?

Go check any online record books for Alabama over 2005-2007 for textbook gate. Their official record in 2007 is 2-6. 5 wins vacated. But not the losses. The teams they lost to are still credited with a win. Those games don't just disappear.

I know you don't vacate your losses because you should not be rewarded for ceating. I would think that OU's loss would be "vacated" or expunged from the records since they lost to an ineligible team.

You thought wrong. Vacated teams wins still count as opponents losses.

I think UGA was ranked #4 that year going into the bowls.

Wouldn't be surprised if Tubs is there. Cinci doesn't have a game this weekend.
Bama was able to claim those NC's easily bc it was in the 80s or 90s - back before social media. Just slipped them in the media guide and eventually came to pass as truth. In today's social media world, not sure you could "slip them in" without a freakin uproar. That's only if you care what other schools/fanbases think.

Sandy is right. I forgot who number 4 was, but it wasn't UGA. And I believe #4 lost as well.
ETA: Illinois was #4 and they got destroyed by UCLA.
