I actually like Michael Penix as a player a lot, I just don’t get the Falcons decision making.

The only thing I can think of is they feel like they are going to lose their 1st rounder next year.

So? NFL running games are entirely about scheme and line play and have very little to do with the runner himself.

These morons are apparently the last people on earth who realize that football games are won and lost on the lines of scrimmage. They took a RB over Jalen Carter last year, they took the slowest WR in the draft two years ago, and took a TE in the top 5 three years ago. They still can't rush the passer and they still have a useless turnstile at RT with an aging LT.

Their answer was to draft a QB who won't see the field for 2-3 years and can't throw over the middle. By the time he sees the field, the advantage of having your starting QB on a rookie contract will basically be gone.

Fontenot blows. Send his useless arse back to New Orleans where he belongs.

Penix won’t stick as an NFL starter

Even by Falcons standards this is a disaster

Yep. That’s another thing we as fans don’t factor into decisions.

Uhh what?
Bijan Robinson was like a top 10 if not a top 5 all around RB in his rookie year last year. And that’s on an average at best team.

Cmon man, you’re drinking the salty juice tonight.

Yeah, my point is that the difference between the top RB in the league and a middle of the pack RB is negligible. Remember when the Titans lost Derrick Henry for 9 games in 2021? They went 6-3 during that stretch and averaged 140 rushing yards per game. Why? Because their OL was awesome and they kept the same blocking scheme.

I'd rather have the 15th best interior pass rusher than the 5th best RB and that isn't even remotely debatable. Stud pass rushers are MUCH harder to find than tough RBs.

Jalen Carter would have been an infinitely better and more impactful pick than Bijan.

I like Robinson a lot but I would have taken Carter there as well. In hindsight if the Falcons take Carter there they could have got Jayden Reed in round 2 to go with London and taken Devon Achane in round 3 and we all saw what he did last year as a backup. I dont disagree with them taking London because the wr room was the worst in the NFL but either of the other 2 wrs would have been fine as well.

Who knows, I’m just saying the pick could be a bust OR it could pan out in the long run. None of us truly know. Slightly bizarre? Sure.
But what has being happy with picks gotten us?
7-9.

I'm predicting with the 43rd pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select Spencer Rattler, QB South Carolina

Would be hilarious if they requested a trade. Kirk has been paraded around town all off season. Now they draft a young QB who he will have to answer mentor questions about and just be a general distraction. Only the falcons man. Lol

Guess I'm in the minority in being glad to have the potential future in pocket and learn from a consummate professional instead of being thrown into the fire and getting a mental complex. We should win the division this year which is gonna put next year 15-20 picking, with the unknown of this tampering shite.

Wouldn't be the first time I was dead wrong though...

They still can't rush the passer. They were supposed to take a big step towards fixing that yesterday.

They will continue to lose close games because they can't get pressure on the opposing QB late in games. This cost them 3-4 games last season.

The Falcons are the laughingstock of the NFL. People are literally laughing.

I think 3 guys on this board could do better than Blank, Rich McCay and Fontenot.

The more I think about this pick, the dumber these guys seem.

They knew Penix and the other 5 QBs drafted were going to be coming out when they signed Cousins.

I like Cousins and I’ve said all along I felt sorry for him coming to such a crap organization.

If Atlanta gets a good edge/DE guy in 2nd round today, I'll be happy. That or CB to help the Defense.

There aren't any left. That's the problem.
