Jeff Schultz is such a hack

Has spent 3 years railing at every opportunity on the Braves move, the stadium, the rebuild, Coppy, how prospects don't matter, shrugging his shoulders at any success...............and then the Falcons stadium disaster culminates with the latest that the roof won't be operational and his response is to show pictures of his buddy Rich McKay and talk about how they laughed about it.
Seriously the worst, most self-righteous gas-bag writer I've ever seen. And that's an accomplishment.

I have never read the AJC. I do get the just of some of their articles when I listen to 92.9. AL.com has better college football coverage, and I follow a few Braves blogs.

The AJC guys that cover the Braves are trash. Him and DOB are pompous pricks.

I mean, it's far from a disaster. I'm pretty pumped about seeing a game there, open roof or not.
I actually prefer indoor games tbh

Between all the delays and destroying the soccer teams season for season ticket holders it has been a pretty ugly process......and after nitpicking everything with the Braves the AJC is basically ho hum all is well with the Fall.

Hasn't everybody whose been to an ATL UTD game or worked with the club said Bobby Dodd's been awesome?
Not saying it's been perfect, but I think "disaster" is a massive overstatement.
I do think Shultz is a douche otherwise, though

Bobby Dodd has been awesome, but people paid for season tickets based on where they would be for Mercedes Benz Stadium...instead some are getting stuck in the nosebleeds in the hottest part of Bobby Dodd. So it kinda blows for those people. Most everyone else though I'm sure it hasn't been as big an issue for

As someone who makes a living in the construction industry, chaos is expected. And with that much steel, I would expect some tweaking over the next year to get the roof working within specs. With that said, it is impressive. I can't think of another city that has better sport facilities than Atlanta.

Bobby Dodd has been great, as pleasant a surprise as could be possible. But people paid for tickets in a $1B stadium.
Disaster was too strong. The point is there is quite a bit to criticize if criticizing publically funded sports stadium is your game, and Schultz conviently has not done that with one while doing it nonstop with the other.

If you really were that butt hurt about Bobby Dodd, then you could have just sold your tickets to every game and then not renewed.
The secondary market for Atlanta United market is stupid. Season ticket members were selling tickets they paid $20/game for $70+.
There are certainly issues with Bobby Dodd, but you also don't know the main purchasing reason for people. For many, they just wanted a soccer team in Atlanta.

Also, disaster for the roof is a stretch. It will be closed just like the last 25 years of Falcons games.
Do you really want it open in 92 degree heat?
The Texans were not able to have an operational retractable roof until November. It is still a roof, just not mechanized at this time.

Wut? That wasn't my point at all. I already said disaster was probably too strong.
The point was after all the nitpicking about the Braves, STP, etc Schultz makes excuses for and laughs off anything with the Falcons.

You said they screwed over the Atlanta United season ticket holders. I disagree. That was my point.
ETA: I agree that Schultz has been way too hard on the Braves. I can understand griping about a full-scale rebuild, but the other stuff is too much.

I agree it turned out great, but there was no way for them to know that then. They lucked into Tech being so awesome and it becoming the place to be. But I do agree in general.

When the date of substantial completion was June 1, the initial goal was to backload home games, but Tata did not want that. Obviously, it is a moot point now.
Lots of MLS teams have started outside of their permanent venue. I just think I would avoid criticizing too much until it happens. For example, don't shite on STP until it happens and "falls apart" which it clearly did not - I really like it and the Battery is stupid cool.

Yup. I like what I see from the newest pictures at MSB. Really looking forward to FSU/Bama and then a United game.

I'd say the reason Bobby Dodd has been so awesome is more to do with the fan support for AUFC in general. With that said, I had never been to Bobby Dodd before my first AUFC game and was amazed and how awesome the view and all was. If it wasn't for the fans being awesome, it would just feel like a soccer game at Ga Tech. Point being, I think the atmosphere would have been the same even if they had converted the Ted (or any other venue) into a soccer stadium

That place is as perfect as a non soccer stadium could be for soccer. Tight, everyone on top of the field, midtown in the background. They're gonna miss it.

I used to follow him on twitter. I got sick of his "insights" into not only our sports but weighing into politics.

Correct on all accounts.

Sorry,Coppy and his moves seem to get a pass with 90% Atlanta sports media while Frank Wren was universally condemned and scapegoated.
Coppy is great at PR and it seems to have bought him time as far as judging his abilities as a GM.
