some people don't like him- hello have you not read these threads?

i voted for him, i know and love people who know him and are quite taken with him and they even sponsored events/meetings for him before the election.

i'm personally not that political because i think both the dems and repubs tend to suck and it's more about antagonizing the other than doing better for the country (state). when i was young i was pretty much full throttle dem, as i've aged i've centered, i still couldn't/wouldn't call myself a republican tho.

We are a conservative state but I think this board has its share of liberals. Reminds me of my professors in school. Hell I can't think of a conservative in the whole bunch.

Arguing over two political parties makes you a fool. America is going to fail because of the two parties, and they have you blinded. Explore other options before it's to late. #Secede

I hadn't heard about that one. He really is a massive idiot, and he consistently proves that he doesn't understand the Constitution that he purports to hold so dear.

Well, its not like HuffPo just created a bill on their own, attached Cottons name, then reported it.

Attacking the source is really stupid when the source is reporting a fact.

But, if you absolutely insist on dismissing facts when they are reported by a media group you do not like, then take a look at the official Markup of H.R. 850 from 2013:

MARKUP BEFORE THE COMMITTEE ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH CONGRESS FIRST SESSION ON H.R. 850

(caps not mine... I copy and pasted from the linked document)

Page 158. You can see the text of the amendment that Tom Cotton proposed, and read a transcript of the discussion of the proposed amendment.

It happened. Tom Cotton is an idiot who proposed unconstitutional and un-American legal penalties against innocent people.

Clearly poorly worded by Cotton but the article is a bit melodramatic or overblown, as is every article by Huffington. Everyone on that committee acknowledged there is a common problem where those sanctioned divert assets to family members to evade sanctions. A consanguinity prosecution is completely unacceptable in the U.S. and overseas but this appears to be very narrowly tailored towards those on the Iranian sanctions lists. Because Cotton brought this up (and he more than once agreed to withdraw it so it could be revised by the attorneys) they may get something passed to cover that gap in the sanctions law.

That proposed amendment did not create gulags where people, US citizens or non- citizens, on US soil would be gathered up and imprisoned. It did not have that scope and is superceded by the constitutional protections already in place.

And no, it is not stupid to question every news source currently available. Hardly any of them are true journalists but have evolved into entertainment platforms pandering to their target audience.

My $0.02

This is the best non-partisan fact based article I've seen on the incident. I'm more informed for having read it.

You won't get any factual responses from the Liberals because they are too brainwashed and ignorant to know what's really going on. According to reports, the "agreement" President Barry Soetoro, aka President Hussein Obama and his minions have proposed to Iran would let Iran develop all components of a nuclear bomb for ten years but they wouldn't be allowed to actually develop a nuclear bomb during that time but after 10 years, all bets are off.

Only the most simple minded person can believe Iran would actually live up to any "deal and just a little research would expose exactly what Iran's intentions are. I would start by looking at the political beliefs and actions of Obama advisor and confidant Valerie Jarrett and know that she has held several meetings with the Iranian leaders over the past several years. The below link provides some information on Jarrett.

LINK

Additionally, all anyone has to do to understand Iran's intentions is do a little research on Ahmadinejad, & the 12th Imam. Below is a link and excerpts from the article about the 12th Iman.

LINK

Article excerpts: The Twelver beliefs have raised concern in conjunction with Iran's steeped interest in furiously pressing forward with its nuclear program, combined with threats against Israel and the West. Critics of the Islamic Republic allege that Ahmadinejad and the supreme leader would even go so far as to hasten a nuclear showdown and cataclysmic strike -- perhaps an attack on Israel and inevitable retaliation -- to hasten the arrival of the 12th Imam. Ahmadinejad has even called for the reappearance of the 12th Imam from the podium of the United Nations General Assembly. During his speeches within Iran, Ahmadinejad has said that the main mission of the Islamic Revolution is to pave the way for the reappearance of the 12th Imam.

Anybody who attacks Cotton and the others over the letter sent to Iran are just too ignorant to even have an opinion on the subject. Those Senators did exactly what they needed to be done explaining to the terrorist state of Iran that any "agreement" and "treaty" negotiated in this process MUST be ratified by the Senate. Something President Soetoro desperately wants to avoid.

I'll leave it up to you do decide why Obama and his minions are so willing to give Iran nuclear capabilities and circumvent the Senate in doing so but all one has to do is research Obama's past and his current actions against the United States to understand his motives.

All I can say is THANK GOD for Senator Tom Cotton and those willing to stand up to traitor we currently have as president. Don't believe Obama is a traitor? Just check out the link below listing the 93 article of impeachment against Obama. But, I fully expect the ignorant Liberals to fully ignore the facts and stick to their talking points of the day. That's all they know.

I have no earthly idea why, but Sen Cotton has some fanatical followers

Of course, there is still a huge contingent of people who haven't fallen for his whole dramatic routine.

He is shooting himself in the foot with this letter. No one is winning a national election with his positions.

I dont care about Harvard degree or he is "still a farmer from Dardanelle". The guy has not legislated anything, he is a granstanding politician quickly becoming a career politician. Problem is he has been job hopping so fast he hasn't been anywhere long enough to ever pass anything meaningful. Thats not leadership. Its politics as usual
