Because the U of A has always and will always make the worst possible decision at a crossroads.
Broyles only has a few years left? Meh, let's not groom anybody to take his place, especially not that Switzer guy. He can go wallow in obscurity as a coordinator at Oklahoma.
A promising young alum named Jimmy Johnson wants our job? Nah, let's hire Ken Hatfield (who can't recruit) and piss off Johnson in the process.
Butch Davis and Tommy Tuberville want our job? Nah, lets hire Houston Nutt because he's such a greet guy and says this is his dream job.
Instead of hiring an Arkansan with a track record as an SEC coordinator, let's hire a braggadocious loudmouth from Wisconsin who doesn't know anything about competing in the SEC.
