Why couldn't Petrino do this at Arkansas?

I agree that BP is a POS and I enjoy laughing at his frick ups, but I also enjoy laughing at those who diminish his accomplishments here. To sarcastically refer to him as "Big Game Bob 2.0" is amusing because to play in "big games," like a Sugar Bowl for instance, one must first win their fair share of games. No one praised Bert's ability to win "big games" when we won some minor bowls, nor will anyone mock his inability to win "big games" after VT shits on Robb Smith in the Belk Bowl.

Not comparing Bert to Big Game Bob 2.0

He can't win the games that count.

Look at Blow U!

He'll make a fine conversion to WR.

Every game on your schedule counts. When you win a large portion of them, it allows fans to single out a few losses as "the only games that counted." Unfortunately, Toledo counted, which eliminated that team with experience at key positions from playing anymore that "counted."

I agree that AU will stomp OU, but it won't be because of Bob Stoops' inability to win "games that count."

he got some pretty good defensive talent to come to Fayetteville. see philon, flowers, Tevin Mitchel, Jake Bequette

but those hits weren't enough to overcome his miss evaluation of 2 and 3 star players that never worked out. not to mention 5* Darius Winston, 4* Calvin Barnett, 4* Byran Jones, 4* DeQuinta Jones, Anthony Leon was a 4* safety, Rudell Crim a 4* CB, 4* LB Austin Moss.

His defensive recruiting was quite shite, but some of the guys you mentioned were decent players for us. A big problem was a few of the others you mentioned (in addition to many others) that never even made it here or flamed out quickly for one reason or another. The attrition rates of a few of his classes was just brutal.

ETA: I believe Bequette was signed by Nutt. IIRC, he even took credit for it while previewing Arkansas at an OM press conference

Only ones of the "hits" that was highly regarded was Mitchel, who was awful until Smith got here.

Not a miss. That kid was a beast by the time his career was over. Kind of like Spaight in that it took him a year to get acclimated.

yea he finally showed up his senior year LINK

but still wasn't drafted.

imo one pretty good season while not being drafted when you're a 4* is at least a partial miss

LOL, we're listing double digit hits and misses.

Jabba hasn't recruited a single hit on defense to date since he's been here. Not one.

Speaking of Darius Winston, he's working at a senior care facility in NWA. My grandparents moved there in the last few months, and they and some others in my family got to meet him. They said he was great.

My dad mentioned that he's going back to school, maybe for a graduate degree? Because I know he left school as a senior, so I assume he finished his undergrad.

Anyway, thought people here might be interested in that anecdote.

Good stuff, wish the best for him

If I remember correctly he was fine when it came to off the field issues, just struggled to live up to the hype. It happens.
