Yeah, I'm talking about NCAA sanctions. You know, consequences that are devastating to the entire program, not a single player being sat down for a few games.

How do we know this year won't be stellar?.

Yep, and I don't think there's much of a chance of it being any worse than last year.

And a head coach who has some experience in winning and seems to know what the hell he's doing.

With our schedule and the uncertainty at QB, I'll be very satisfied with bowl eligible.

same, though i keep going back and forth. i'm keeping expectations low at 6 wins but think we can get up to 9. there's no reason to think we'll be stellar. the defense will be mostly fine, but it's like we're starting from scratch with the offense.

This is one reason I like Bielma - his concentration on the O line and running backs. Fundamental of winning ball games is ball control, which goes hand-in-hand with his style of offense. We might be starting from scratch on offense, but he knows how to teach and coach it.

As with any program with a new hc & staff, I rarely expect bowl eligibility the first season; however, with the relative ease nowadays of getting into one, it wouldn't surprise me if the Hogs are successful in that regard. I absolutely am not betting on it. I do expect to see a tremendous improvement from last year, and a building upon that in the next couple of seasons. I believe Bielma will be a good coach for Arkansas; I do not believe he is a miracle worker. As long as the Razorbacks show consistent, solid improvement this season in every aspect of the game, I'll be satisfied and assured that they're being well coached, and will have a greater chance at those bowl games & SEC Championship in the future.

Eta: Living in Baton Rouge for a number of years, I've had the opportunity to see much uncertainty with the QB position for LSU. Despite this and their questionable hc, they seem to find a way to win. We at least have a better person in the hc position than they do, IMO.

i don't only mean style of play, i mean personnel. new QB, new WRs, new RBs. the O-line is 'experienced' but by all accounts not well coached and needs a lot of work.

Ya know, I'm not really concerned with the QB issue. I have faith that Bielma will start the one who shows the best leadership abilities as well as skill. IMO, that's Mitchell, but we'll see.
As for the RBs, quite frankly, by the time they get to this level, they know how to hit the hole, when to accelerate, cut the corner, when to cut back, look up the field, etc. Much of that is natural ability, anyway, but they absolutely need an O line & blocking to do that. That's where Bielma's expertise lies. I have no doubt he's a great coach for an offensive line that "needs work."

damn it, arkla missy, i'm trying to be a pessimist for now. i know that by week one i will expect 11 wins only to have my heart ripped out. such is the life of an arkansas razorback fan.

Sorry.

Believe me, I know that feeling of heart being ripped from the chest where the Razorbacks are concerned all too well. When I was younger, I couldn't watch half of the game, even when I was there (sometimes it's still difficult) because of my nerves & dread that something would happen to cause us to lose.

I've mellowed a bit, I suppose, over time.
I've learned not to try to predict the season. I take each game as it comes and try to concentrate only on it, and I definitely do not worry about things out of our control i.e strength of schedule, etc. As long as the players and coaches are doing the best jobs they can, things usually work out. That's really all anybody can ask.

remember when chris klenakis put MORE OFFENSIVE LINEMEN IN THE NFL in the past few years than ANY other offensive line coach and that was at NEVADA, I MEAN COME ON, he's going to bring that to ARKANSAS and we are just gonna destroy and oh boy didn't that turn out to be some shite
