Hard to hire a guy when he turns you down.

If only we had hired Calipari instead of trying to relive the past.

ETA: I agree with you that MA has been a complete failure here, but he wasn't a bad hire on paper at the time. It just doesn't look like it's going to work out.

We probably tried to get him on the cheap as well. I never wanted Anderson and watching today's games make me hope he is gone sooner than later.

Altman is the one we should have if not for John freaking White. Also we would not had to have a good bleed for 4 years with Pel.

The sad thing is that Mike will win 20+ games next year and get bounced in 1st or 2nd rd of the tournament. Doing just enough to keep his job for another 2-3 yrs and keep the program in a state of mediocrity all the while missing out on yet another championship quality coach.

I'm not trumpeting the UALR coach as the next big thing because of a tourney run… just look at Stan Heath, but I saw that guy make adjustment after adjustment today and beat a superior team on will and grit. He took a dead program and won 30 games in his first year.

I think Anderson's big weakness is his teams come way too flat way, way too much… and the team offensivly looks very unpolished...and I actually like the guy. But he got the rug pulled out from under him this year and seemed to have no backup plan.

Long should pull a Mal Moore a la Saban and park his jet on Gregg Marshall's lawn and say "Im not leaving until I get this guy signed.". The fanbase that remembers the glory days is not getting any younger.

My issue with this Mike Anderson tenure is the defense has been mostly crap. That was supposed to be the big thing, but the press we employ is garbage. Oh sure, every now and then we'll turn a team over. The press we use seems to be geared to draining a few seconds off the shot clock. Not actually making someone uncomfortable.

Yea we play no defense under Mike. It's token pressure to speed up the pace of the game.

Dana wanted to bring academic personnel with him after seeing how bad our academic standing was with players after Heath.

I was not following basketball closely during the whole Altman saga, I just remember something about him signing on then reneging, what actually happened with him?

I'm honestly not certain if we'll ever be back. We've now been mediocre as long as we were good.

In a 20 year stretch from 1977-1996 we went to the Sweet 16 ten times. That also included 4 final fours, 2 national title games and a national championship.

In the 20 years since then, we've only been to the NCAA tournament 8 times and never past the 2nd round.

We're definitely well past the quick fix window.

Mike's gotten lazy as hell. There's little to no fire in him.

Our defense has been garbage as stated.

The attendance issues should get him fired sooner rather than later. Somehow Mike doesn't connect to the fans very well and the students don't seem as invested either.

It is like he thinks he is unfireable due to the universities dealings with his former boss. Which is why I never wanted him to begin with. The risk was not worth the reward.

No, we should have hired Bill Self when he wanted the job, but Frank wouldn't do it.

Self would likely still be here and our program is in a much better standing right now than it is.

He coached a great game yesterday. His team was outsized and he packed the middle most of the game and made them hit from outside. When they did start hitting from outside, he switched his defense when Purdue got up 13 or 14 and that caught Purdue with their pants down. He made Purdue go to a smaller line up and he then ate their lunch going on the run at the end of regulation and then winning in overtime. It was great to watch him coach them to that win.

He has done a remarkable job at Little Rock, but I agree, even Stan Heath had a single solid year. Though, Beard has been a great HC his entire career. At McMurry, Angelo State, and now Little Rock, he is winning at a 77% clip. So, something he does works because he has won as a head coach wherever he has been.

He worked under Bob Knight at Texas Tech after going 24-6 as the head coach at Seminole College. He then coached a semi pro team to a 29-2 record.

His last 3 seasons as a head coach, he is 77-19
His last 4 seasons as a head coach, he is 96-29
His last 5 seasons as a head coach, he is 126-31

Unless we change our name to Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, or Kansas, we aren't getting Marshall.

It's pretty well known he is waiting for Roy Williams or Coach K to retire and take their seat. He really wants Duke but I think Roy is closer to retirement.

Frank killed basketball!

He fired Nolan and didn't hire Self.
He is and has always been a racist MF.

Anderson was the low hanging fruit for Jeff.
Sadly, I supported the hire.

It's a tragedy that some on the board never saw a game in Barnhill or BWA in the early 90's

Doubt I'll ever get to see Razorback Basketball at that peak in my lifetime.

I'm past BB now, will not support purchasing season tickets again.
