I'm not convinced of that. I'm 115% behind JL, I think he used a slight window of extreme leverage to get his deal locked up, so he could tell the 'top target' that he won't have to worry about having a new boss for the duration of his contract.

I also think regardless of who he hires, floating the names out there that have been mentioned with some bit of seriousness, only strengthens his positioning. It makes us all think "well, Damn. At least Jeff went out and tried to get the best guys possible in Petersen, Patterson, Gundy, etc.
I really want that Oh shite hire, because frankly we kind of deserve it after enduring nearly 30 years of f'd up coaching and PR disasters.

the way i see it:
Gundy has been talking to Arkansas since April, each side courting the other. Long kept Gundy close, knowing gundy would be a great hire, while still putting out feelers for bigger hires (e.g. Petersen, Les Miles {no matter what you think of him, he's a big hire}). in the meantime, he talks to lower level guys (e.g. Franklin) in case something happens with Gundy; always have to have your bases covered.
There has been good indication Strong is heading to Tennessee, based on his press conference last night.
There's also a lot swirling about Smart to Auburn.
That leaves Gundy to Arkansas. So, within the next few days, we'll either have Petersen or Gundy.
I'd be extremely happy with either one. Until then i'm chillaxin and F5'ing like a mofo.

Well, according to Clay Travis, we are waiting on about 7 people in front of him to turn down the Tennessee job.
If he turns down the Tennessee job, then we can expect his answer.

Davis is also still collecting big severance $ from NC in addition to his adviser pay from the Bucs of which he will lose when he signs his contract. He's been sitting pretty, but if he is going to be the coach, he needs to hit the recruiting trail.
I've been reading that some asst coaches have told some recruits that a HC would be named by Wednesday.

Yeah, CT has been hitting it hard here lately, but he is getting exactly what he wants when all these damn people are flooding his pages and twitter account with replies and messages. Some of our fans are really making us look like idiots too. Like this guy:

Now just about everyone from AR media that I was retweeting about this damn Gundy thing are all recanting their story and saying that it's not a done deal and that negotiations are ongoing...stay tuned...no coach has been hired...nothing is definite yet...etc. etc.
