On a positive note, the touchdown by Reed toward the end of the game did lighten my spirit a bit. I hope we get to see a lot more completions like that from him.

Like I said above, I thought the call was fine. If Baker runs outside his blocks instead of cutting back in then he gets the first. That's what you get though with a guy who never runs the ball.

The problem is that the score was 10-7, and we gave Alabama both momentum, and the ball on our side of the field. If our defense was going to struggle with Alabama backed up to their goal line, as they would have been if we'd punted, then how do you think they'd fare backed up to their own? How much difference do you think it made to the Alabama offense?

I'm sure our defense was gassed, but the risk/reward ratio was far too high to try a fake punt there, imo. Despite everything, we were playing with them toe-to-toe, until Bielema flinched and called the fake punt. It happened near the end of the 3rd quarter and I still thought we had a good chance to win, until the fake punt sealed our fate. All you can ask for in Tuscaloosa is to keep the game close and pray for a chance to win at the end, but the fake punt ended our chances with a quarter to go, imo.

I appreciate the optimism, but just can't find it in myself to justify that call.

Personally, I wish we had just lined up and gone for it. Both times.

That said, you can't run the ball on Bama, so even on 4th and 1 I think you roll out, hit the edge quick or throw. We don't run slants, but I don't see how you stop Henry running 5 yards to a LB, turning around and making himself a target.

I would rather have my skill guys in there to try and make it then a punter running the ball.

The whole idea behind a fake is the element of surprise.
If you don't have that(which we don't) then it isn't going to be very effective.

As bad as our fakes and trick plays have been, Utah just blunderfricked their way to an epic bad play that just cost them a safety and the lead.

pretty sure I saw hog fans mentioning Kyle Whittingham as a coach we should hire if bert doesn't work out.

and Tuberville's lost to BYU, Memphis, and Temple

but hog fans think a coaching change will eliminate losing to teams we shouldn't and dumb coaching decisions

Present.

I like Whittingham and Tubs. for Arkansas.

I really don't know who can turn this around. Maybe Gus.

Whatever happens happens, but the next guy really needs to bring some SEC experience but Arkansas is still paying bottom dollar for assistants.

Good talent makes coaches look good and bad talent makes coaches look bad.

I certainly don't trust Lindsey and the boys to make the next hire, don't trust Frank, not sure Long is committed to winning at football, Don't think the program is ever going to really get where we hope it will.

Maybe the NCAA will get imploded and we can all start over and Arkansas can become a mid-major and dominate at that level.

Ok, so we're still brooding over one failed play when we barely moved the ball on them the whole game?

Wow, Gus? Tubs?...

I am beginning to worry about your frame of mind.

I wonder why people look at Gus at Auburn, with their resources, and think he would do well at Arkansas.

The same for Tubbs losing everywhere, and yet they think he would light it up here? 1998 was a long time ago.

Sports wise it's pretty sour.

Everything else is coming around rosey.

I've never been this dismayed with Arkansas sports. Just realizing too that I've not watched a single pitch of MLB this year.

I used to have the mindset to bring it on, fighting against all odds made being a Razorback fan fun and special. I knew that with all this horse shite there had to be a pony in there somewhere.

Bud, Gus has some ratings beasts and is mediocre at best at Aubbie this season, following his own recruits being there as well, and paying for the $$$$ DC...

I do not ever think Gus would be successful here. I love Tommy T for several reasons, but he has passed his prime. and we still have 15million other names prior to anything truly happening. FWIW!
