I just cut a few random video clips together from Dickson in one night. This is NOT the same Dickson street I remember.
Raise your hand if you miss college and jealous of what these freshman have compared to us..

The Dickson street I remember involved puking, well, every where at one time or another, less than "proud" moments in the "dating scene", and doing 8-balls in a parking lot.

wouldn't hurt my feelings at all to go back to being a freshman now but know what I know now as well

In complete agreement.
I am already enrolled in graduate school in California working on that ole EMBA but being home this weekend makes me miss this place.
Are you heading back?
Arkansas is still a few years away on brining in top international programs and placement around the world. Otherwise, I would be all for placing my name in that sidewalk for a third time. In truth I wanted different regions of education in the US then one around the world.
Can you imagine if you knew what you know now, back then?

Dale,
What was the name of that old bar on the square you had to walk down the stairs and into the bar? It had a pool table in the back, small band area and trough style bathrooms. This would be 2000 or 1999.
All the fraternity houses always took us there during the summer of rush as we could drink underage, ha.
I am on an iPhone be gentle.

I'm horrible with names, the only one I remember the name of is Dave's because of their license filing system causing me to have to buy a new licence the following Monday a couple times.

The same place that hung the licenses behind the bar?

IIRC. If you were underage they'd keep your license in a roladex, you had to meet with the door man to get it back, I guess that was to see if you had been drinking or not, Drunk = new license Monday.

yea man. I graduated high school in '04 and have been in and out of college since then. changed my major 3 times. first it was health sciences, then business management, then land surveying. but now I'm positive I'm on the right track with my current major which is physical therapy. I'm going this fall to UACCM to get what I can out of the way before transferring over to UCA. may try to double major with all the other classes I've accumulated over the past
also I just started studying to become a personal trainer through NASM

I had older friends from Highschool who were 21-22 when I was 18, I payed for them to go to the DMV and get copies of their licenses that I used to get into the Cowboy (frick I don't know why, 50 cent longnecks on "ladies nigh" I guess was the reasoning). I found you don't have to look like the picture if the height and eye color is the same and you can memorize the rest.

On the square? or off the square a ways?
There's been a ton of different places in the OPO. Then JR's Lightbulb Club was a fun place, too fun. My Sunday's were not complete if we weren't dumping pitchers over our heads and getting kicked out of JR's, then hitting the triumverate of Club West/Doc's-Electric Cowboy/Millenium.
I fondly remember being able to drive through campus by the Student Union and hollering at bitches all the way through and picking fights with skaters.
If you ever cruised Fiesta Square....

No, its definitely a year round entertainment district now. Its crazy how lively its gotten. Only destined to keep growing for several more years.
The student apartments are only starting to be built within walking distance.

The downstairs bar was OPO, wasn't it?

Dickson is so rowdy, it's crazy how much it's changed just in the last 3 years...Hell, ONE year.

That sounds kind of like Maxine's Tap Room. There was a pinball machine up front, and it used to crack me up going in there and seeing 7-footer, Joe Kleine, bent way over playing the pinball machine.
There was another one nearby, and I'm a bit foggy on the name (no big surprise there), but I think it was something like JR's. The owner was an older guy, who I think was a pretty good baseball player back in the day.

Klein was always at Maxine's. Even in the 90s and 00s. I saw him there as recently as '11.
Jr's Lightbulb is now one of the gay bars.
Its kind of a shame, too, because that place was home to many, many great rock shows of bands that later went onto national success.
The White Stripes played a show there on 9/11. THE 9/11.

It was always known (and probably still is) that there is a high 'flunk out' rate at UofA.
Saw several folks head to the Hill after high school, be home in a couple of semesters, have to regroup and try again at UCA etc...
Hard to get your work done with that many distractions. Some folks can handle it, too many can't.

I'm fairly certain this is true of about half of UAFS' student body.
There was a guy ahead of me in high school who made it a few semesters, and may have even had something to do with the spirit squads. Ended up back at Westark, made it back up to UA, and never left. Spent years finishing his degree, and last I heard, does photography for UA. It's been nearly 20 years and dude has never really left college.
Haven't heard anything about him in a while, so maybe he's finally moved on.
