I don't know that Fayetteville has a couple of hundred people parties now.
Greenhouse parties were born out of necessity, because there wasn't much other opportunity in Conway to drink and act a fool. No big frat houses. No bars.
I don't think Fayetteville ever had anything similar, because there's a giant roving party 5 nights a week one block off campus.
It's called Dickson Street.

Yeah the party scene in Conway doesn't hold a candle to Fayetteville.

Even without the "planning" of parties, Fayetteville has always been such a college town. When I was in school ages ago, Fayetteville already had the big "students only" apartment complexes (like College Park) which were rent-by-the room, and 99% college students. Our weekend night routine was to leave the door open and hang out on the balcony drinking, and sometimes we'd just walk around and meet other people.
The impromptu throw-downs every single weekend at a place like that were as good, probably actually better, than most of the college parties I wound up attending at smaller schools with high school friends.
I remember how UA used to have the "safe ride" program back then where cabs would pick us up at College Park and drop us off on Dickson, for free. Paid by the university. I think it eventually got shut down because were all just using it as a designated driver TO parties, rather than a ride home after.
I can't imagine what it's like to have these big student apartment buildings basically ON Dickson Street now. Must be nuts.

I lived in CP from the summer of '00 to the fall of '01. Lots of great memories from that place. Open parties all of the time like you said and Casa Taco right across the street. Loved that place.

Pour a little liquor out for the Casa Taco delivery guys, who probably knocked on doors with passed-out people inside several times every night of the week.
I don't want to rag on the smaller state schools, but Fayetteville is overrun by college students. The people who live here know its best to just get along and get out of their way most of the time.
We got away with so much crazy shite in Fayetteville as students, and it never really felt like we were getting away with anything. I can't believe how casual I was about weed and everything else while I was a student. I also remember it feeling like we were at the bars at least 5 nights a week. It's all we did.
