You do realize you are talking about an intangible that isn't measured, isn't ranked, and can't be taught.

People always point to the qb and mlb to be these leaders, we do not have the guys with this mentality at these positions but that can be ok if this type of leader is on the field elsewhere or you have a collective group who each know their assignments and what is needed from them each play and after each audible...

You might say we're in need of kids with uncommon talents

So you're saying we don't have anyone that is uncommon

No I think our team has some uncommon traits. For example d1 and sec scholarship offers are very uncommon among the team.

Also it's uncommon for our players to know the playbook when the season starts.

quote:

I felt all year that this team had poor senior leadership.

The senior leadership on this team was a complete joke all year.

When your captains are comprised of an offensive linemen who's had an indirect hand in a few losses and commits ill-timed penalties, a middle linebacker who is a legitimate liability on defense, and a defensive end who'd done practically nothing until late last season and then absolutely disappears his senior season (he wasn't even playing on 1st and 2nd down by year's end), then you know you have a huge leadership void.

And that's not even taking into account our senior TE who tried to steal from the very department store that gave him a $450 gift card prior to the bowl game, or our senior WR who was kicked out of said bowl game for spitting in an opponent's face.

To be honest, I'm not all that optimistic about our leadership going into next year, either. I was hoping Austin Allen would assume that role, but his body language was horrible the second half of the year, and he appeared almost disinterested or lackadaisical at times. Here's hoping that one is the younger guys has some fire in the belly and just runs with the role, tenure on campus be damned.

My thoughts on #BeUncommon

I think this phrase was the brain child of Jeff Long.

To restore and build a new brand for Razorback Football.
After Bob fricked us and made our brand the laughing stock of CFB, measures needed to be taken.

Bert was told to run with this mantra and be careful during the recruiting process, "you recruit your on problems" BS

As well as the student athletes have done in the classroom, the on field performances haven't risen to that level.

As Feral has stated, where are the leaders?

After the Mizzou loss I counted that as an anomaly. But yet again, two 3rd qtr. meltdowns back to back, now that's a pattern.

Will a new DC fix the problem?

I'm starting to think that Bert is the real problem, players coach, yada yada

Next season is huge for Razorback football

Right the ship Fatass! or GTFO

TLDR

i usually agree with both of you, not completely on the above.

I understand the major disappointment and vitriol, however AA has fire and you could hear it first hand on an interview in the past few days I watched on KARK. He was adamant on getting the ship straight and being without many of the issues of this past season. His demeanor wasn't a hanging of the head in giving up, he was ashamed as a frick. Tired of the same old crap and teed up some folks on the sideline and in the lockerroom. FWIW.

As for JL, sure he had to rebrand and it was extremely brilliant. It worked to a point, as good catch phrases and marketing do. However, it is past time to translate to the field as well. Keep watching the offseason. FWIW, jmho!

I agree with you as usual. Austin has a ton of fire. You could tell he was pissed when anyone made a mistake including himself and he loves to win. He's that gamer in him that few have, and his brother didn't have imo. He's not a problem
