AA throws a very nice ball - nice balance of velocity and catchability

I thought Austin looked good for his first "game." He rushed some throws and missed some reads but he also looked very promising at times.

He definitely has a stronger arm than Brandon. Those two post routes to Hatcher were bullets and that deep ball to Hollister was on point. That's a ball that Brandon always floated but Austin's was on a dime.

He'll be good as he gets more reps. As you were saying though, it might not be until next season that he explodes.

I thought AA threw quite a few NFL-type throws, especially to the outs.

As bad as Brandon Allen was early on, physically he could throw the football. There is one QB on our rosterthatmhss the physical ability to complete this a 20 yard out.

Here is my basic recruiting philosophy

I want all my unskilled position players from the boonies. They are going to be raw and under valued and with as good weight room and proper coaching will shine. I.e the best defensive player in the NFL kahil maxk the only guy to win NFL all pro at different positions....in the same year lol.no one knew how good he could be because he had never been in a truly professionally ran system.

I want my skilled position players to be from major cities and major conferences. My major I simply mean non boonies. Springdale is a major city. Russelville is borderline but a major city. Ocaloa is the boonies. The exception being that you see a player that is complety dominating the talent that you feel is still not been properly developed. I.e korliss Marshall Marcus monk. I don't want a receiver fromashdown that is 6'3 210 and runs a 4.45 but has 35 catches his senior year.

With the exception being

I want my quarter quarter back and kickers to be from major cities and major conferences

And by major I mean springdale, little rock, Fayetteville maybe jonesboro..nah just those three. I don't want qbs with potential. I want and who are good, who can read a defense when they step in campus, who has half arse proper footwork now.I'll give CA pass for the taking snaps understand center no one does that

That alone gets story and peavy off the roster I'm glad to love being a hog peavy you can pay your way. There is no way in hell I'm taking a 6'3 QB from Charleston Arkansas under no circumstances.

Matt Jones was from Van Buren but he was recruited as axwr, was 6'6 and was the best bball player in the state his senior year ( played against him that year trust me lol he was the best)

If a QB from ashdown goes to Missouri And shows out good for him not worth the risk. If he wanted to prove he could play in the sec move to little Rock.

Eah I would have passed on Tyler wilson. I would pass on hayett his year. Too important of a position to take a chance. Take the kid from Fayetteville if you like him stop fricking around. I probably don't take Jordan Jones. I take Cole Kelly Lafayette is the 4th biggest city in LA plus upum intrigued by his speed at his side he looks like Paxton Lynch

The one exception for qbs being that they star, not play in another sport. That is the best indicator for ability there is. Jamies Winston is from huyeytown alabamna who to date is known for being that city with the fricked up humming noise lol but not much else. Winston was also drafted by the Texas rangers straight out of high school in the 15 th round knowing full well he was going to play football jf not dfor football Winston is aop 15 pick. That's staring lol. Russell Wilson was drafted by the rangers out if Hugh school and played through college which is why he went to Wisconsin. Hisciasch got tired of him missing spring practice

I actually can understand your points, not 100% that you do but if I were in the position of a college football coach I wouldn't per se make generalizations about players based on where they grew up.

What I'd do is identify the best HS coaches and stick myself like glue to those guys and their feeder programs.

Rather than bigtime the HS coaches like a lot of our Arkansas coaches have done in the past, I'd be accessible and build relationships with the guys that are providing my pipeline. I'd do a ton of clinics with those guys and teach them what I'm looking for in recruits and have them teach those aspects at their level so any recruit that happens to develop will have a good base in the fundamentals I deem necessary.

One of the things I like about Kurt Anderson is really seems like the kind of guy that gets it and that he'd be willing to do camps and teach middle schoolers and set that foundation.

Same here. Overall, I was pleased with his performance. He made a couple of bad reads and throws but that can be cleaned up with experience. I think he'll do very well for us in the next two years.

I saw a tweet from ESPN SEC just now where they ranked Allen the #5 QB in the SEC coming out of Spring practice. They must have liked what they saw too.

Austin certainly has tools to be good in any system.

I wish Bert would've played him a series a game last year.

FG Kicking. Geesh, can this improve please.

Rev, I feel pretty confident that missed FG(s) will cost us at least one game this season. And probably a chance to stay in another game late.

Can someone answer a question about kicking? Did Hedland have more elevation on his PATs/FGs?

Agreed, and it really ticks me off that we cant have a kicker who is clutch. It is kicking for goodness sakes.

Go to the freaking soccer field, grab a Hispanic, tell them they get all the free burritos they can handle if they beat everyone else on the team by the beginning of the season

Agreed. He sometimes struggles on the intermediate touch throws. There were a couple he just overthrew. Reminded be of BA early in his career.

I expect it to be mid season before the o line to gel and austin to turn it on when he gets all those reps he needs. we will be kinda mediocre until then on offense. I'm hoping we will look more like 2014 on defense because the amount of seniors is comparable

I'm not going to drink the Kool-aid this preseason.
I think our defense is going to surprise some folks, including us.
But our offense has taken a BIG step back in talent and experience (WR excluded).

7 wins. If kicking doesn't improve, 6.

I really don't know what to think. Pittman always had pass protect first and we never had push until late in the season.

Having rush push first focused on is good.

Anyway being overconfident isn't as good as being worried for development. Bert just better bring it next year.

5-6.

I'm expecting a slow start. With the defense carrying us. I liked what I saw fundamental wise at the spring game from the defense. I think our online will take time to gel.

I was a actually impressed with Willie Sykes and alot of the second team secondary. Rhoads is gonna coach us up some depth in the secondary.
