Maybe he'll do better under a head coach that drinks his Redbull without vodka.

So Chavis was mediocre with top 10 talent and an offense that in theory uses slower tempo than Morris will... With the 81st ranked talent.... Well... That sounds like a great way to spend $1.5 million to me!!

SMU went three and out on 23.84% of their possessions while Texas A&M went three and out on 22.28% of their possessions.
SMU was also 5-7 that year and lost to Navy 75-31. Hard to gauge on teams that really aren't that close in talent level. Not to mention that was year 2 for Morris.

I said i would take a wait and see approach before making a judgement on the Chad Morris hire. I was wanting to see who he would bring in for DC. If in fact its Chavis, this will not excite many fans especially for trying to sell season tickets and putting butts in the seats for next season.

Pretty dumb way to assess coaching hires. Winning gets butts in the seats, flashy hires wear off quick.

Honestly I think the common fan (non twitter or message board type) will look at this and see LSU and A&M on his resume and be pleased. That type of fan is the majority, we live in a bubble on this board and on twitter.

Also not sure a defensive coordinator has ever affected season ticket sales. Most fans just don’t care about coordinators that much

Defensive?

Also malzahn was obviously an exception considering the recruits he brought with him, but nice try

Just think, Chavis sucked the last 2 years and the 2 years prior is when we whopped LSU.

I'm all in for hope, but we could've done better.

Is this the best we can do? If so I'll never mention it again.

Why do a few of you always reply back with responses like that? I personally don't know who is out there, but there has got to be someone better than him.

I guess him stinking it up at A&M the last 2 years and being beat by us the 2 prior makes him the best guy.

Based on the defenses we’ve had the last few years I don’t think we are in any position to shite on a DC hire. We could’ve done way worse,

If you or anyone was expecting Venables then of course it’s a letdown but that was never going to happen

Did we have any other targets? Because when you reply back saying, "like who?" That tells me all we went after was him. If that's the case then yeah I'd say that's pretty disappointing as a fan of this team.

I didn't expect that either, but chavis? The SEC bicycle that's more than likely end his career here?
