edit: I guess I should clarify. There are lots of good places to live in Arkansas, and I'm thankful I grew up there, but I would only move back for Fayetteville. The biggest downside to living in Arkansas is that there's really no urban area there, and the nearest big city to most of the state (Memphis) is pretty shitty compared to the rest of America's cities.

Meh, Tulsa isn't too far from the western side of the state (NWA/River Valley) and has similar attractions (Music, motor sports venues, etc) without the crime. Memphis has a NBA franchise, if you consider the Griz to be that.

Kansas City, Dallas, and OKC are similar drives depending on what venues you are wanting (NFL, MLB, NBA, NASCAR, NHRA, Music, ETC.)

As far as music, the people who host the site of Wakarusa have been bringing in more "national" acts, although the artists have been more on the country side, but supply/demand. I've always liked going to Juanita's in LR as they have been great at bringing in good bands, many before they are "big". Dave's on Dickson was similar before they shutdown years ago.

What I'm hoping for is that NWA will continue developing into a really awesome metro area as it grows, and I can move back there in 10-20 years. NYC is a great place for my fiancee and I to be starting our careers, but we might want to move somewhere less urban to raise our kids, once we have them.

Work in our professions tends to gravitate to places with higher population density, so NWA is not a great place for us right now. There are less than 10 people doing what I do in NWA right now. I think there are only 5, but there may be 1 or 2 more I don't know about.

I went to college in Arkadelphia, talk about a real shite hole. That place has maybe 10,000 when HSU and OBU are in session. It's a dry county as well so we'd have to drive an hour to Hot Springs for any kind of entertainment.

I live in Fort Smith, 90,000 people with a college and not a damn thing to do either! Only thing we've got going on is a strip club 5 minutes into Oklahoma. I'd much rather live in Conway

i live in lexington and i'm not far from a few bars that are always jumping with college girls (easy pickins), you got UK basketball you got keeneland, you are only an hour drive from louisville about, it's not NYC but there is never NOT nothing to do. it might be only 2-3 things but there is something to do.

frick conway lol. and shite after you hae been to clinton ave 2-3 times in little rock that's really it.

arkansas needs to invest in some nightlife entertainment and make this entire state a drunk state. fricking drive to maumelle is stupid
