I bet Markuson said "What we did at Arkansas" one too many times, but it planted the seed in Bret's mind to come to Arkansas.

Damn MSM plot.

I went back and watched the first quarter on replay,
my eyes did not deceive me. Price Holmes was playing nickel, I confused him and Ellis. Though they both were playing at the same time early in State's first possession.

my bad on the confusion.

I wonder if UAB has any plans of firing Mcgee?

I wouldn't mind replacing him for Chaney as OC.

1. McGee will never be back at the UofA

2. Even if he did come here he isn't going to be allowed to run the same offense we had with Petrino.

He called plays for a completely different offense while at Northwestern. He has shown the ability to adapt and his recruiting in Oklahoma is a valuable asset.

The only scary part is Pittman is here because of Chaney.

Lol no.

Just because they both came from Tenner doesn't mean they're but buddies for life.

Problem with McGee is the alleged affair with the gym coach, amIright? Broke up their marriage.

Not sure how accurate that is though.

If you don't think Chaney being hired as our OC influenced Pittman to come here and to turn down Bama then you are as delusional as the folks on Hogville. I'm not saying that is the only reason but it did play in to it. I'm also not saying he would leave if Chaney did but it could happen. Luckily we have made him very highly paid so hopefully he sticks around. His group is the only one who has played well this year.

I'm not saying he couldn't do it but it wouldn't be a good fit just like Chaney isn't the best fit. The last 2 OCs Bielema has hired came from a spread background and then tried to run his power running game. Neither set the world on fire. 3-9 with Chaney and 8-5 with Matt Canada (who is back running the spread at NCState). If he was to make a change he needs to find an OC that shares the same belief he has on how an offense should be run. His best years were when Paul Chryst was his OC and they shared the same philosophy. 4 out of 6 years he won double digit games

I'm not sure that Pittman is any way handcuffed to Chaney or not but that would be the only reason to keep Chaney at this point imo. Not enough easy throws for BA, not enough attempts to get HH the ball more, not any progress from BA whatsoever. Maybe if we can't find a suitable replacement we keep him in the name of stability but I just can't see him being the guy.

Defense is harder to assess. Jared Collins actually looked pretty good against MSU. Had good, tight position on several plays and turned his head and played the ball without giving ground. Hopefully Hines can come back this offseason and pick up where he left off. If we can just get average safety play it will make a big difference. I think Ellis will be solid with some added strength. We've had a lot of 3 and outs this year and the defense has worn down and the secondary has been atrocious. Bennett gone will be addition by subtraction. All in all, I dont think Ash's scheme was that bad, just need more talent and strength.

Partridge and Shannon are obvious keepers. The WR coach from K state would be the only other question mark besides Chaney just based on the absurd amount of drops this year but that could be another talent problem. I imagine that BB would rather not replace anyone after this, somewhat expected, tough season. It will be interesting to see how this plays out with Chaney being the only one I think possibly on the hook.
