Silver lining (?) - this is the sloppiest game we've played in a while

This game was lost on costly penalties, turnovers, bad playcalling, derping on the goal line, blown assignments, etc. This loss was deeply concerning to me at first last night and I melted hard, but after sleeping on it (somewhat) I take solace in the fact that we shot ourselves in the foot and it didn't appear that there was a huge deficit of talent or coaching. All of the below are pretty uncharacteristic of a Bielema-coached team, especially as of late, and I'm optimistic it can be corrected.

Coley's late hit on an uncatchable 3rd down ball that would've forced them to punt from our end zone. That gave them new life and also had us down a DB for the rest is the game.

Having three separate chances of 1st and goal at the 2 on two separate drives and netting 3 total points from it.

Fumbles on handoffs and running into the end zone.

Bad playcalling at the goal line, including a mind boggling end-around against a team with ridiculous perimeter speed.

Leaving the middle of the field wide open for called QB runs not once but twice and thus giving them the momentum going into halftime.

We could have lost 59 to 10 pretty easily. Worst game we played since toledo

That game was real Toledo-y in that the offense had umpteen opportunities for 6 in the red zone and shite bed too many times to count.

I missed the entire game, started my new medication yesterday and I was out like a light before 8. It sounds like a very Toledo type game for us. Kind of glad I did sleep through the whole thing now.

When Williams fumbled on the goal line I knew we were in trouble.

Anytime freak things like that happen to us early in a game it usually means karma is against us in this one.

Coley's late hit was a questionable judgment call to me. Whe n you look at it in real time everything happened quick. Didn't look to me that he had time to pull off, and I don't think he had time to process that it was an incompletion. In the very least, I don't think there was anything 'intentional' about it, other than trying to knock the receiver out of bounds.

That's why the rule and its interpretation are so absurd.

I think it was the correct call in terms of being a penalty. We had a party at our our house, and I immediately shouted "I hope that's not a flag" after Coley made contact. The flag came, but it also felt pretty late.

However, calling it targeting was a stretch. It could have and should have been called as late hit or unnecessary roughness. Anyone watching it could see it wasn't intentional and that the helmet to helmet contact was incidental. You can tell when someone is headhunting or not, and it was apparent that Coley wasn't.

I thought it was intentional.

Correction, I know it was intentional. Coley had the best vantage point to see what everyone in the stadium and on TV saw, which was Pulley tipping the ball away.

He then takes at least 2 more steps and then hits the receiver.

Targeting? Not sure, but I can see why it got called.

Stupidest thing I've seen a Razorback do since Skipper tripped the a&m player and cost us the game in 2014.

I still can't get past how profoundly stupid that hit was, especially considering the situation with it being 3rd down and the pass being incomplete.

I don't mind that playcall with JCorn or Reed. Because it's proven that it works. But with Hatcher (our slowest WR) it makes no sense. And on top of that, Hatcher probably could have made it if he had tried to cut inside on the last defender and muscle his way there. Instead he cut outside and tried to outrun him... come on man
